Job Description:

Tax Accountant

Reporting to: Head of Team Location: Bishops Stortford Special requirements: This role is subject to Blended working with an expectation of 3 days in the office. Some travel is expected across Tees offices. Access to a vehicle may provide additional flexibility within the role. Flexibility of working hours will be required to meet client needs.

Main Purpose of the role:

Provide personal tax advice including completion of self-assessment tax returns developing own portfolio of clients. Provide a quality, tailored and supportive tax and accountancy service to a range of clients. Assist lawyers with their caseload by preparing trust and estate accounts and dealing with the income and capital gains tax compliance for these matters.

Main Responsibilities Generic Responsible for managing a mixed caseload of client matters subject to appropriate supervision.

Providing clients with high quality, proactive accountancy and tax advice, which meets client needs.

Achieving the firm's fee targets and assisting and enabling others in the team to do so. Managing own time effectively to facilitate cash flow and credit-management systems, such as time recording, lock-up, cash flow, profitability and billing.

Delivering tax and accountancy services in a manner which is cost-efficient for both the client and the firm. Using technology to enhance performance.

Enhancing the firm's reputation and position within the community by developing a professional reputation, participating in professional and community activities to support the firm.

Contributing to the firm's general marketing initiatives by participating in firm's marketing events including networking, seminars and writing marketing material.

Private Client Services

Specifically in the area of trusts and tax, advice and support might include:

? Identifying when a form IHT 100 is required and completing the form

? Preparing tax returns for a range of individuals, trustees and executors, including tax returns, tax deduction certificates and annual trust accounts.

? Finalising a deceased individual's life time tax affairs ? Personal tax compliance including preparation of tax returns ? Providing income and capital gains tax planning advice ? Preparing annual trust accounts, tax returns and tax deduction certificates ? Liaising with the lawyers to obtain tax efficiencies in the trusts ? Researching ad hoc tax queries to support Lawyers from all departments ? Supporting trainee trust accountants and other members of the team ? Keeping up to date with developments in personal and trust taxation. ? Undertaking any other reasonable duties from time to time allocated to the role.
