DESCRIPTION

This is work advising clients on financial services or employee benefit programs. Duties may include assessing clients' assets, liabilities, cash flow, insurance coverage, tax status, and financial objectives to establish investment strategies.

EXAMPLES OF WORK

Determines the eligibility of members for withdrawal from deferred compensation accounts.

Audits individual account balances and resolves discrepancies.

Calculates benefit payment of individual deferred compensation accounts to retirees by lump sum surrender or annuity.

Calculates benefit payment of individual deferred compensation accounts to beneficiaries.

Counsels with deferred compensation participants in preparation of benefit receipt due to retirement or termination of employment.

Counsels with potential deferred compensation participants regarding plan benefits, restrictions and investment designation.

Establishes payment priorities to plan payoff method and estimate time for debt liquidation.

Explains to individuals and groups financial assistance available to college and university students, such as loans, grants, and scholarships.

Calculates amount of debt and funds available.

Interviews clients to obtain information and compares data on clients’ applications with eligibility requirements to determine eligibility for assistance program.

Determines amount of aid to be granted, considering such factors as funds available, extent of demand, and needs of client.

Contacts creditors to arrange for payment adjustments so that payments are feasible for client and agreeable to creditors.

Opens account for client and disburses funds from account to creditors as agent for client.

Prepares required records and reports.

Authorizes release of funds to clients.

Assists in selection of candidates for specific financial awards or aid.
