She chose UM because it was ranked highest of all the MSW programs in the country and had a partnership with Teach For America. What Delta Alums Think you should Know:

? Always check to see if the programs you're applying to has a fee waiver or scholarship for TFA alumni...it can save you a ton if you qualify.

? Some programs have advanced tracks for students with Undergraduate Social Work Degrees.

? Some programs have specific tracks for students interested in School Social Work. It's a plus if you know that is the direction you want to go, but it can also be helpful to learn the general social work skills.

Over the past few years, I've seen tons of improvement in the kids I work with-in and out of school. I've been able to collaborate with families to help get the services & support

they need. --Kate McCriskin, Delta `05

The Inside Scoop from Delta Alums:

? According to Taylor Scott, studying for the GRE is important, but stressing too much about it can have negative effects. Put in the time to do well, but do not feel pressure to over-do it.

? Taylor Scott also says that attending a School Counseling program in Arkansas requires school counselors to have their teaching license and two years teaching experience, which is perfect for a TFA alumni. Before you choose a program, make sure you know what their licensure requirements are.

? Teach For America, says Sarah Campbell, provided valuable experience with students and in the classroom that helped her application and writing sample stand out. Make sure to highlight your experiences and what you've learned on your application so yours does the same.
