General Information
What is the purpose?
The purpose of this grant program is to support the professional development of cooperating teachers who have worked with one or more UW-Whitewater College of Education students in a qualifying field experience during the Summer 2015, Fall 2015, or Spring 2016 semester. In this program, professional development is viewed broadly as including activities and resources that promote and enhance knowledge and skills related to one’s work in supervising professionals-in-training and to one’s own work as a teacher; library media specialist; school, higher education, or community counselor; speech and language specialist; school psychologist, or health, fitness or recreation specialist. Examples of appropriate activities and resources include workshops, field trips, professional books or manuals, and other materials related to one’s work responsibilities. This grant cannot be used for tuition at post-secondary institutions or the cost of subscriptions to a professional journal or newsletter.

What are the qualifying field experiences?
Semesters: Summer 2015, Fall 2015, Spring 2016
Teacher Education: (1) Field study/alternate student teaching,
(2) student teaching/internship, (3) undergraduate and graduate practicum and inservice.
Library Media: All Practicum experiences
Communication Sciences &
Disorders: All Practicum experiences
Counselor Education: All Practicum experiences
School Psychology: All Practicum experiences
Health, Recreation, Coaching: Field study/graduate practicum experiences
What is the amount awarded per grant and when will grant money be awarded?
Grants are for a maximum of $500. Individuals may receive this award only once during a period of five years. Grant recipients will be reimbursed between June 1, 2016 and May 30, 2017 upon submission of receipt(s). A W-9 Tax form will need to be submitted before reimbursement can be made.
Who will evaluate the grant proposals?
Grant proposals will be judged independently by three members of a committee: (1) Director, Office of Field Experiences, UW-Whitewater, (2) someone who has served as a field supervisor at least one time during the past three years, (3) and a UW-Whitewater, College of Education faculty member who represents an area that is not already represented by a field supervisor.
Applicants are prohibited from including identifying information (name, school, agency, etc.) on the proposal. The cover sheet will be removed before the grant proposal is given to the committee.
What are the important dates and deadlines for this grant program?
April 1, 2016 Completed application (cover sheet and proposal) must be emailed to Renee Gailloreto, gaillorr@uww.edu, Office of Field Experiences by April 1, 2016.

May, 2016 Announcement of grant recipients.
June 1, 2016 to May 30, 2017 Period of time during which grants awarded for the 2015-2016 cycle are to be used.

1. The proposal should be approximately two pages.
2. The proposal must contain the following three sections:
A. How the professional development of the applicant will be enhanced as a result of the resources and/or professional development activities funded by the grant
B. How the applicant’s knowledge and/or skills as a cooperating teacher, cooperating librarian, etc., will be enhanced as a result of the resources and/or professional development activities funded by the grant
C. A description about how the funds will be used. Include information as to source and costs.
Note: Do not include information on the proposal that might be used to identify
the applicant, such as name, school, school district or agency. This
information should only be listed on the cover sheet.
