EAD 530Formal Teacher Observations: Student Teaching VideoMichelle Williams9/5/18When I sat down with the student teacher, I would begin the post conference by having him share what he felt went well during the lesson and why. I would also ask him to share what areas he felt went well and support those areas with examples.Positive Feedback to Student Teacher“You shared objectives for learning with the student s prior to teaching.” “Students were aware of classroom expectations, because they gave their undivided attention during instruction.” “They also knew what it meant when you asked them to work with “elbow partners” to think about what they wanted to learn, because their turned to their partners.” “When students were asked to get into groups, students without a partner moved about the room.” ” I could tell that this is something that they were used to doing, because they moved seamlessly.” “Great use of graphic organizers when you used the K-W-L chart for decimals, fractions, multiplying and rounding. “You did great when you checked for understanding.” “It was also good when you checked with students to see if they were following along.” “When you grouped students, it was good to see that you praised students for following expectations.” Constructive Feedback to Student TeacherBefore I began to share constructive feedback, I would get clarification on a few things. I would get clarification on how would students know what to do in their centers and they just completed a K-W-L chart. I would also get clarification on how students were going to play Jeopardy on concepts that they wanted to learn about. I would encourage the student teacher to work on classroom procedures such as transitioning prior to the lesson and let him know that so much time spent on proper transitioning can lead to the students loosing content that they learned. Lastly, I would encourage the student teacher to differentiate instruction for the students with various learning needs. ................
