ETV Teacher Recertification

[Pages:1]ETV Teacher Recertification General Information on Course Structure and Operation

ETV Teacher Recertification courses are provided by ETV Education for South Carolina educators and approved for renewal credit by the SC Department of Education Office of Educator Services.

One-hour/20 renewal credit courses (Annenberg and Other ETV courses):

- All one-hour/20 renewal credit courses are provided in six to eight week sessions: FALL (@mid Sept. to early Dec.), WINTER (@ mid Jan. to mid March), SPRING I (@ mid March to mid May), SPRING II (@early May to mid June), and SUMMER (@ early July to early Sept.)

- Renewal credit only. (NO graduate credit offered.) - Self-paced and facilitated online in Moodle. Participants may complete their work ahead of end-

of-session date, but all work and evaluation must be completed by session end date. - Each course contains between 8-16 video lessons, which totally add up to approximately 8-10

hours of viewing. You will access the video lessons online linked in your Moodle course. - SPECIAL NOTE for the Annenberg Education courses: When viewing each video lesson the link

will take you to the Annenberg site by opening it in a different window. Be sure to come back to the ETV Moodle site by closing the window you watched the video in so you may access the discussion topic question on the ETV Moodle site for that video lesson. (There are questions on Annenberg site, but these are NOT what you are to answer for these ETV courses.) - In all courses, after viewing each video lesson, you then answer a discussion topic question. Look for a discussion bullet symbol and "Discussion Topic # __," which is usually located under the link to the video lesson. Click and it will take you to the question(s) for that video lesson.

- To write your response to the discussion topic question, click bullet "add a new discussion topic." You will see a place to title your response and write it. Be sure to click "Post to forum" bullet when you complete your response so it will be posted to the forum and we can view it.

- Each discussion topic response should be at least 100 words. If more videos in the course, then you are directed that you may limit response to less. (In some Annenberg courses, you have a choice of which to answer. In these cases, as it tells you, you are required to answer only one.)

- As you view video lessons and write/post responses to forum, your viewing is monitored through Moodle and your responses are read and rated by course facilitator on a pass/fail basis. (The facilitator will not be able to respond to each post, but they are read on a regular basis.)

- During the course, you are encouraged to respond to other class participants' discussion topic posts. More responses enhance the virtual learning community.

- Once you complete all course work successfully by the end of session date, you must complete the final evaluation, providing your input on course by answering several questions. This evaluation will unlock for you to complete once we sign off on all your viewing and responses.

- Then, once we sign off that you have completed the evaluation, your Certificate of Completion will unlock and you may print it. (It is your responsibility to provide copy of certificate(s) of completion to your school district or SDE Office of Educator Services.)

- ETV Education will send a list of all completers to SDE Office of Educator Services within 10 working days after the course-end date.
