Anglophone South School District celebrates that English Language Learners are a part of our schools! Our support process is the same for them as for all of our students. English Language Learners fall under the Education Support Services umbrella in the same way that all other students do, using a Pyramid of Instruction and Intervention. See page 2 for descriptions of each step in this Pyramid of Instruction and Intervention. Resources and Glossary - pages 3-6. All ELL studentsSchool Administration: Contact Lynn MacDonald, if a child entering your school:was born outside of Canada was born in Canada whose mother tongue is not English, or ELL student transferring from another DistrictLynn MacDonald will assist you with:Entry documentsScreening assessmentsEAL MentorSchool Administration assigns student to a classroomClassroom teacher takes responsibility for the student using best practices in the classroom. with the help of available resources (e.g. EAL Mentor, co-teacher, EST-R, EST-G).Staff and students learn cultural differences and welcome them, so that student can be included in the common learning environment.Some ELL studentsTeacher observes a possible learning challenge other than language.
