We are working with the college, affiliated departments, and alumni to expand efforts to reduce the financial obstacles of required testing. We have begun to solicit funds to create new grants or scholarships for in-need and underrepresented students. The existing NSF-funded Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program is an important recruitment tool for STEM students. The EPP is actively diversifying its curriculum and seeking to hire more diverse faculty, and it has been approved to hire someone next year, which will help recruit/retain students. For the same goal, the EPP is also committed to exploring ways to enhance diversity and cultural competency development, such as through the use of the Intercultural Development Inventory or other tools and programming. The EPP participates in campus admissions events to meet individually and in groups with prospective students. With the VCCS, the EPP participates in the Teachers for Tomorrow events and benefits from institutional articulation agreements with the VCCS. Finally, the EPP has initiated changes to enhance the experiences of students after admittance to the Teacher Preparation Program, including programming or workshops on diversity and inclusion and/or tailored to the sundry professional obligations facing PK-12 teachers. The students in the program qualify for Presidential and Provost scholarships to cover the cost of tuition. ................
