Applications are invited for the Master of Education Degree programme conducted by the National Institute of Education, Maharagama.

1.0 Target Group:

Sri Lanka Teacher Service (SLTS)

Sri Lanka Principal Service (SLPS)

Sri Lanka Teacher Educators Service (SLTES)

Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service (SLEAS)

Principals & Teachers of Pirivenas or Government approved schools

Academic Officers of the National Institute of Education or Government approved

Educational Institutes

2.0 Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Education Degree with a minimum 05 `B' Passes or

Postgraduate Diploma in Education with a minimum 05 `B' Passes or

First Degree with a class and Postgraduate Diploma in Education

3.0 Nature of the Course:

Part time ( During weekends and school holidays )

4.0 Course duration:

18 months

5.0 Medium:

The course is conducted in all 03 media.( Sinhala/Tamil/ English )

Medium of Instruction of the programme will be decided by the institution upon

finalizing the number of qualified candidates available for each center.

6.0 Regional Centers:

01 National Institute of Education- Maharagama Sinhala Medium

National Institute of Education- Maharagama Tamil Medium

National Institute of Education- Maharagama English Medium

02 National College of Education - Jaffna

Tamil Medium

Minimum of 50 students should be registered in one medium in the respective center

7.0 Course Fees:

i Application Processing fee

NIE has the authority to amend the above mentioned fees without any prior notice.

The course fee can be paid in two installments (Rs 45 000/= + 30 000/=)

Please note that the application fee and the Entrance Examination fee are not

refundable.

8.0 Mode of selection:

Candidates are selected on the basis of marks obtained at the entrance examination

and the interview.

9.0 Application procedure : Applications should be typed on an A4 size paper based on the specimen application form given. Applications should be sent along with a 9"x 4" size self addressed stamped envelope.

 `MEd 2019/2021 Batch' , Center, and Medium should be legibly written on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Applicant should pay Rs 1 300/= as application processing fee and the Entrance examination fee to any branch of the Bank of Ceylon (BoC) in favor of Director General's account number 607628 at Bank of Ceylon Maharagama and the receipt obtained from the bank should be enclosed with the application form.. (Money orders and cheques are not accepted)

Applications should be sent through the relevant Principal/Head of Institute and Zonal Director of Education under registered post to reach Director, Department of Teacher Education, NIE, Maharagama on or before 15.10.2018
