REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF

Upon completion of one year experience of teaching in North Carolina public schools, an individual with a valid out-of-state teaching license who, prior to NC licensure, had four or more years of successful out-of-state teaching experience is not required to submit NTE/Praxis test scores to receive a first North Carolina teaching license, provided:

1) the superintendent of the employing LEA or designee requests the license,

2) the teacher meets all other reciprocal licensing requirements, and

3) the superintendent has recommended the teacher for employment for the next school year

subject only to receipt of a valid North Carolina license.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Effective June 30, 2006, testing exemptions will no longer be granted for the elementary grades level or for the middle and secondary levels in licensure areas required for teaching the core academic subjects.

The above individual (check as appropriate):

received a temporary permit based on reciprocity regulations and holds a valid non-expired out-of-state reciprocal license.

completed 4 years of teaching experience in an elementary/secondary school out-of-state prior to North Carolina licensure.

has completed one year of successful experience in this school system.

has been recommended for re-employment for the                      school year by the Superintendent of this school system.

Based on the above, it is requested that Praxis II subject assessment test requirements be waived.
