Always ask if there was something mysteries or cannot be understood. Listen carefully to the person who is talking to understand the message.Accept and respect others’ opinions as every member has her right to participate. Attend all the meetings that the group held’s, unless there was an emergency.Honesty and frankness between members are very important elements of developing the productivity of the work.Teammates should feel comfortable to ask for any help whenever it is needed. In case of any changes, all members must be informed and updated. Cooperate to accomplish the goals and submit the assignment before the due date.Progress Report: Problem OneThe supervisors and the workers in the Bahrain Logistics Company would be impacted by several factors besides the obstacles that they will interface when moving from downtown Manama to Isa Town; some examples are:Aggressive :It is the feeling that makes a person reacts in a harsh way with people; or simply treating people with violence. For instance: raising the tone of the voice when talking, saying harmful and hurtful words or even ignoring someone's\the employee's question. In addition to the expressions that may appear on the face like grumping the face. Employees also can show their aggressiveness in a different way; for example, they could make fights with each other or throw their stuff and files everywhere turn them into pieces as a reaction. All of that could be the reason behind the un-cooperation between the employees in the firm or because of having plenty of problems when moving which generates pressure and nerviness. Passive:It is to let things and events go on and take place without having a reaction or a response for that.Being a passive person is like being weak and that means that the supervisor in the firm for example has no control of the work and the workers and cannot implement the made decisions in the firm. For example if one of the employees has broken a rule, the supervisor may not stop or punish the employee.Another example is the company's movement, the employees might have lots of conflicts and feel that they are in a miss because of the issues that may show up while moving and basically because of the limited leadership skills that the supervisor has. Assertive:It is about being strict and firm when making the decisions or in other words doing what you are asked to do without discussion (merriam-, n.d).In the army there is a military rule that shows how the leader should be assertive, which is: "Obey orders then object". So, in the case of moving, employees should obey their managers' orders and to do that they should be more strict and firm especially when things come to time and firm's work. However, that does not mean that employees should not express their opinions and point of views, it is just about the timing of discussing such topics. For instance, held a meeting to announce the moving process and explain the reasons behind it to the employees and inform them about the need of the change (the company's movement), which is going to happen whether they like it or not. B. Autocratic Leadership StyleIt is a style that gives the boss the absolute power to make the decisions by his own, without consulting any employee but only giving and orders ("Leadership styles," ).This style can be used with the employees when there is something must happen quickly for the good of all members. For instance, this style usually used by the army; the supreme commander makes quick decisions and gives his order to the soldiers without accepting any resistance giving them the chance to prepare their power and focus on the targets and missions ("Leadership styles," ).There are both, advantages and disadvantages for Autocratic StyleThe advantages:The decisions made in a quick time, even the work.It is an efficient Leadership Style.Helping new employees to understand the procedures of the work.Giving orders and explanations in some works which they have to do it in a direct way or even when using a machine that they have to use it in the correct way.("Leadership styles," ) The disadvantages: The employees feel upset and angry by controlling them.Increase the absent percentage of the employees. The employees will depend on their boss in making the decisions all the time.("Leadership styles," )Bureaucratic Leadership StyleAccording to Business Dictionary website Bureaucratic Leadership Style is “A style of leadership that emphasizes procedures and historical methods regardless of their usefulness in changing environments” (“Definition”). Thus, in this case leaders depend on rules, policies and particular standards. This leadership style was founded in 1947 by Max Weber and it is required when quality and safe work conditions are critical (“Important leadership Styles”). So, all job tasks will be done in specific and exact way. Furthermore, applying this style may save employees time as they do not have to think how to do the job and they just have to follow the task standard which are used in the organization. This style is based on using a standard rules books in order to lead staff and to ask them to follow standard procedures professionally (Types of Leadership, 2012).The core aim behind applying this leadership style is to solve problems by controlling the flow of information and adding control layers. Thus, many people believe that this leadership style is very restricted as it has high level of control beside inflexibility which could make staff limited and unsatisfied. There are many situations where Bureaucratic Leadership Style is compulsory to use. Basically, the style is used in some majority, such as military intelligence, compassionate conservative, peace force, constant change, student teacher, multinational corporations and government agencies (Bureaucratic Leadership Overview).Bureaucratic Leadership Style is applied in factories where staff should follow standard procedures while using new equipments, machines and tools. Also, this style is used in police, courts, and to apply particular rules for particular situations and to judge guilty. Furthermore, Bureaucratic Leadership Style is applied in organizations which use different particular system like computer system. For instance, according to Bahrain Polytechnic policies Window7 must be used by the campus staff and students as a standard computer system, Bahrain Polytechnic always keen to train their staff and students to be familiar with the system in order to increase the campus productivity and creativity. The advantages of this style: Written Procedures & Policies and Lower Levels of Innovation and Creativity: (Example)In terms of written procedures and policies, managers and some employees consider this point as an added value for their job because they just have to follow some written procedures and rules in order to do their tasks and even new staff does not need to be trained before working. For example, any manager who applies this leadership style can give his staff tasks requirement s beside group of standard rules, so the new employee can do the tasks perfectly by depending on these enclosed rules and without turn back to the manager. In addition, staff does not have to think outside the box or be creative or innovative. (“Bureaucratic Leadership Overview”)Functional Specialization:Another positive point of the Bureaucratic Leadership style is the ability of dividing employees groups into smaller special functional groups based on particular purpose and expertise related to organizations structure (“Bureaucratic Leadership Style”). For example, according to rules and policies managers could put employees in marketing, strategic plans, human resource and quality.Figure 1 following rules952500503555(“Student Leadership Style”)The style disadvantages:Employees May feel Helpless:By using Bureaucratic Leadership Style, organization’s employees may feel negative. As they follow standards all the time, they might feel helpless because they do not contribute in doing the job tasks creatively. 162877585725Figure 2 feeling helplessEmployees cannot refuse applying organization standard:Figure 3 losing the job426720063500As bureaucratic leaders lead their staff by following some rules books, their staff cannot say No or refuse the leader’s decisions. In case employees disagree with the standard organization rules, they might be warned, or lose their job easily if they repeat that.Laissez-Faire Leadership StyleLaissez-Faire is a French phrase that means letting people do as they choose. It is a style of leadership in which are the group members are allowed to make the decisions. The leader who implements this style gives the subordinates the freedom to choose how they are going to achieve the goals and solve the problems. He/she doesn’t contribute with any involvement or control, but with the least possible supervision (Kendra Cherry, n.d.). This style is ideal to be used when:The work relies on innovation and creativity.Employees are motivated, highly skilled and experienced. Employees are qualified, reliable and responsible. In the one hand, laissez-faire leadership style has some advantages:It encourages innovation. It improves trust in the employees.More flexibility.Less control, more focus to accomplish the job in a higher quality. On the other hand, this style of leadership has many disadvantages:There is no defined plan to achieve the goals which may lead to chaos. No enough feedback from the leader which may result in inefficient work. Projects can go out of control and deadlines will be missed. It can lead to increasing the dissatisfaction of the employees when something goes wrong and they lose the interest to work. Democratic Leadership StyleThe democratic or the participative leadership style is an open style for the team that allows everyone to be a part in making the decisions. Everyone in the team could give ideas to be discussed openly in the discussion table where the ideas are shared to choose the best appropriate decision. Employees under this style are being updated with everything that could influence their work and share the responsibilities in solving problems and making decisions ("Leadership styles: Democratic,").Democratic style is likely used in long period arrangements where there is an expectation of high quality and quantity of work. For instance, in a consulting company problems are being studied to find the best possible solutions with the need for an open decision between different expertises. Also, it is likely to be used in services sectors and creative groups such as designers and advertisements where there is a need to create new things every period of time ("Leadership styles: Democratic,").This style has many advantages such as:It keeps the door open for any participant to share his/her ideas and communicate ("Leadership styles: Democratic,").Ideas could be developed by the team members.Employees will be able to develop and could be promoted.Encourage the member team to achieve the best.Employees under this style react positively with the team spirit with high confidence. ("Leadership styles: Democratic,")However, this style has some disadvantages such as:It takes long time to make decisions as the ideas need to be discussed. It requires highly experienced employees with high skills or the information and ideas will not be reliable ("Leadership styles").As Bahrain Logistics Company is growing and moving from its origin place from Manama to Isa town, it is expected that there will be some problems between the employees in the company as the case study shows. Here are some examples of how to deal with each problem:Further to travel and Traffic Issues: for these problems, Autocratic style is suitable because the company has a lot of employees from different places in Bahrain, so the new location will be nearer to some of them and further to some others and it is the same with the traffic problem. Also, this is something that the boss is not responsible for and the company must be moved for it is good.A Less Urban Area: Isa town is a less urban area than Manama, for this reason, it lack for some services that the employees need or use to get their work done quickly. In this situation, the laissez-faire style can be used. The supervisor could provide some of the needed requirements and the employees should figure out how they are going to solve this problem.Unease regarding restructuring: Autocratic is the perfect Style for this problem because it is an emotional problem, which it is not one of the boss responsibilities. In addition, the employees should face this emotional problem and accept the change because the boss gave the order. Increasing Staff: In terms of this future problem of (BLC), we recommend the company to apply Bureaucratic Leadership Style as they should turn back to Bahrain Labor rules in order to find out the maximum number of employees who suppose to employee according the (BLC) capital (“Urgent Need to Enforce Labor Laws, Provide Redress, 2012”). So they must follow Bahrain Labor rules exactly.Possibility of Increased Workload: The leader can use the democratic leadership and could have a meeting with the employees to inform them about the new situation and that there will be workload. So, if the work was divided onto the current staff they would not manage to do it all and because of that the company is going to employ other employees to cover the work and it would be divided fairly.30099001511935New Training Requirements: In terms of this problem, we recommend (BLC) to apply Bureaucratic Leadership Style as they should turn back to the company policies and standards which are related to training requirements in order to train the company employees, specially the new staff (“Training and Learning Development”). So they must follow standard procedures exactly as well.-180975106045Figure 4 trainingFigure 5 increasing staffThe References:Websites:boshemia. (n.d). Retrieved from: Individual contribution:Lama Ajawi 201101603Part 1:There are lots of leadership styles that each one has its own special traits, such as:Autocratic LeadershipBureaucratic LeadershipLassiez- Faire LeadershipDemocratic LeadershipBesides the previous styles, two other ones would be interpreted which are: The Charismatic LeadershipThe Task- Oriented Leadership The Charismatic Leadership:According to mindtools (n.d), leaders in this style are very keen on their work and full of interest and excitement. The good part of this style is that:This kind of leaders could generate enthusiasm in their team. The workplace and its atmosphere would be full of enjoyment and activeness. These elements contribute in making a hard worker and a productive team.Give the team the opportunity to be creative. However, the disadvantages are:Leaders in this style maybe over confident, which might cause several problems like:They might not listen to others' advices when working on the wrong path.Believe that most if not all the made decisions are right. They might want to apply what they always want, without taking into consideration the other team members. The great excitement that the leaders have could lead them to make hasty decisions. This could lead to destroy the team or even the firm.I liked this style because it makes the work a bit flexible and enjoyable rather than being boring, and work will not be repeated because of the creative ideas that enthusiasm can make. The Task-Oriented Leadership:This style is about the way of having the work completed, the roles distributed, the plans made and everything is organized (, n.d).The advantages of this style are:The work would be done and finished on the expected time. This style is good for those who have obstacles in organizing their time and work. While the disadvantages are:It is a routine work; there is nothing new in it.There is no creativity which may lead to motivational problems for the staff.I did not like this style because it is a repetitive work has no creativity and new ideas in working which could make the work much better for the employees even if they are obligated Part 2:The previous style would be suitably implemented on the following problems:Further to travel and A less urban area therefore further to some services; the appropriate style for this problem is autocratic because there is no other method to solve this problem and the moving process must be done, unless there is a policy that support the moving process without objecting; that means that the bureaucratic style would be utilized in this case.Traffic issues; in this situation a democratic leader would be suitable. For example, he\she can give other possible options for the employees that they can use or change the working hours for the company to avoid the rash hours and the traffic.Unease regarding restructuring and New training requirements; if the company has enough time to hold a meeting with the employees and discuss opinions and ideas that might help the leader in deciding then being a democratic leader is the best option, but if there is no enough time the leader should be an autocratic so he\she will not waste time.Increasing staff; it is something that must be dealt with, which means that work must be done so it is either being an autocratic or task-oriented in this case.Possibility of increased workload to deal with the new contract; three styles can be suited in this case, it is either bureaucratic because this problem might be written as a policy in some way and it must be applied, or autocratic or task-oriented that is because this problem should be done and the work must be distributed whether the employees like heir part of work or not so these two style would be very good for time consuming. The References:. (n.d). Leadership styles . Retrieved from Zainab Naser 201101711Part1:Creative Leadership:This leadership style is about the leader who is creative. Creative leader influence his employees and guide them to think outside the box and be imaginative to create innovation and work differently. However, when the leader can be more creative he can find special solutions to problems and he can inspire people whom are under him ("What is creative,"). Servant Leadership:In 1970s Robert Greenleaf made this leadership style which means that the leader serves his employees by giving them their needs and what they want generously. In addition, it's like the democratic, all employees make decisions and the leader prefers to stay behind. Because of the ethics and values of servant leader, he can have power to make positive work culture and create group spirit between employees ("Leadership styles,"). And as what we say "the master of the people is the one who serves them". Part2:Case Study:Further to travel: Autocratic leader can solve this problem by deciding by himself that the company will move to another place because at the end the employees are from different countries in Bahrain so it will be near for some and far for some.Traffic issues: Servant leadership is suitable for this problem. The leader can serve the employees by providing a bus for them so not every employee goes in his car and increase the traffic.A less urban area: Laissez-faire style can work with this. The manager trusts his employees and let them deal with the problem of further services and how do they can reach it.Unease regarding structuring: most of people afraid of change, but it's not anyone problem but them. As a result, the leader can't solve unease problem so he will be autocratic leader and order them to accept the movement and deal with the changes. Increasing staff: In this case the leader can use democratic to let the employees take a decision. For example, either they work more hours or accept to have more staff.Increase workload: being democratic leader is good for this issue, to let all employees give their opinions of how to face this increase by providing several solutions.New training requirements: Bureaucratic style suites it. The leader can face the employees with a rule in the book he manage them by which it says that in each new stage, employees must have new trainings. If I would be a supervisor or a manager I prefer to use creative leadership style because I love to be creative and do the works in different ways than others by using my imagination. And because I can inspire people which it's an amazing thing. The References:Leadership styles. (n.d.). Retrieved from: What is creative leadership?. (n.d.). Retrieved from: Nada Salman 201100832Part1:There are lots of leadership styles that leaders use in each business. Other than the four we studied in this group assignment, two styles will be mentioned. The first one is the Transactional Leadership Style. This style is also known as ‘Managerial Leadership’. According to Kendra Cherry (2012), transactional leadership focuses on the cooperation between the leader and his subordinates. Once employees accept the job, they must adhere to their leader's instructions. Punishments and rewards are used by the leader in this style to motivate the followers. The transactional leadership benefits are ():Team members’ roles and responsibilities are clear and defined. Employees often do well because they are motivated by leaders and their performance is being judged. It is very effective in short-term tasks. However, the downsides are:Employees can’t do much to increase their job satisfaction. It has many limitations regarding creativity and personal knowledge.Sometimes it feels dull which often leads to employees’ turnover. The second style is Transformational Leadership. As cited in , it is a “Style of leadership in which the leader identifies the needed change, creates a vision to guide the change through inspiration, and executes the change with the commitment of the members of the group”.The advantages of Transformational Leadership are:Team members are inspired by the leader to do their best. The productivity and quality are often high.It adds new values to the results. The disadvantages of this style are:The leader needs other’s support to keep doing his/her job.Uncommitted employees can damage the work.Part2:It is a huge change that Bahrain Logistics Company is going to move from Manama to Isa town. And as people always reject change, there are going to be many problems to resist this change. However, a good supervisor will be wise in this situation, and use the suitable leadership style to deal with the situation.Further To Travel & Traffic Issues:Some people who live in Manama for example will have to travel a greater distance to move from their homes’ to the workplace. Besides, they might have to stay a longer time in the street because of the traffic which will cost them more regarding petrol. The supervisor here is recommended to use the transactional leadership style, because this change must happen for the company to grow and complete the business and the employees must know that there is nothing in his hands and they must accept it or they will be punished. Less Urban Area: Isa town is a less urban area than Manama, for this reason, it lack for some services that the employees need or use to get their work done quickly. In this situation, the laissez-faire style can be used. The supervisor could provide some of the needed requirements and the employees should figure out how they are going to solve this problem.Increasing Staff:As the organization is getting bigger, it needs more staff to do the work. To solve this problem the supervisor can be bureaucratic and explain to the employees that as the company’s size is getting bigger, the number of employees must increase.Unease Regarding Restructuring:When the employees hear about the new coming staff, they will panic and be afraid of losing their positions. Therefore, it is appropriate for the supervisor to use the transformational leadership style to calm them down, inspire them to cope up with the change and explain to them that the new staffs are important for the company to bear the workload.Possibility of increased workload & New training:The transactional leadership style is ideal to be used by supervisor in these situations. He/she can motivate them with the rewards/ bonus when they do over-time shifts or train some of the new staff. The References:. (n.d.). Transformational leadership. Retrieved from: . (n.d). Retrieved from: Fatima ObaidPart1Transformational LeadershipIt is one of the styles of the leadership that means the leader has to identify the need to the change and creates inspiring vision that would lead the change with the commitment of the employees while applying the change ("Transformational leadership,").It is an uplifting and excited experience to work for a transformational leader especially in changing situations because of many reasons such as:The transformational leader inspires its employees to be creative on their work and done it on time. Gives his/her employees the energy to work harder by motivating and rewarding them.Cares about his/her employees to make them achieve their wants and succeed.("Transformational leadership,")Emotional Intelligence LeadershipIt is another style for the leadership which means understanding yours and others feeling and being able to deal with the emotions from both sides ("Emotional intelligence,").It is critical to use an emotional intelligence leader in a changing situation for many causes such as:The emotional intelligence leader could be self-aware especially in a leading situation by knowing his/her strengths and weaknesses and having the sense of humility. The emotional intelligence leader has empathy which means they put their self in the position of others. They listen to their employees, give them feedback and help them to develop. These kinds of leaders are with high social skills by communicating with their employees, support them and make new task excited.("Emotional intelligence,").Part2:It is recommended for the supervisor of Bahrain Logistics Company to use different styles of leadership to deal with the situation and resistance from the current staff about the change (moving to Isa Town). Many resistances problems are expected, including:Further to travel:Many employees will reject to move because it’s far away from their homes and will make it an excuse. In this situation, the leader should be dealing with his/her employees in an emotional intelligence leadership which requires from him/her to communicate with the employees and justify for them the need to move and that Bahrain is small country.Traffic issues:For this problem the leader should act in an autocratic leadership because the company will be moved if they accept or refuse and there is traffic in everywhere.A less urban area therefore further to some services:In this problem the leader should be working in a laissez-faire style by providing some services for his/her employees and they have to deal with the situation and manage to have their work done.Unease regarding restructuring:In this situation, it is appropriate for the leader to use transformational leadership which is by inspiring and motivating his/her employees and let them know that he/she cares about them.Increasing staff:In this situation, the leader should be dealing with his employees in a bureaucratic style that means sticking to the rules especially that the company is growing very quickly and it needs more employees to do the work.Possibility of increased workload to deal with the new contract:For this problem, the leader should be democratic with his/her employees by explaining to them how the work will be contributed and new staff are going to be employed and all this workload is caused by the fast growing that would increase their profits.New training requirements:The leader should be dealing with his/her employees in a transformational way in this situation and provide them about the need for the change and provide motivating things for them.If I were the supervisor for the Bahrain Logistics Company, I would choose the democratic and emotional intelligence leadership styles to deal with the employees in the situation of the movement to another area and what consequent on it. The reason behind choosing these two leadership styles is that they are the most appropriate once that give the employees the suitable reasons for any resistance from them and provide them with motivating things so they would be creative and excited about doing their work in a perfect way.The References:Emotional intelligence in leadership.
