Find and Identify 9 Propaganda Techniques: We have studied ten different propaganda techniques. For this project, you must find one example of 9 different propaganda techniques. The 9 techniques you choose must come from the following list:BandwagonTestimonialTransfer Snob AppealPlain FolksPatriotismName-CallingSloganRewardsEvidence ClaimsRemember, propaganda is used in newspapers, advertisements on television and magazines. Therefore, the examples that you find can come really come from anywhere. Create Your Own Ad: Also, you will create one advertisement for an existing product, or you can come up with your own product, place or service to sell. You will make, draw or create on the computer an advertisement using two propaganda techniques. Summaries: Once you have found your ads and identified the techniques being used, you must then write a summary (no more than 5 total sentences) that explains how the ads use those techniques (including the ad you created). You will have 10 total summaries. For Example: The ad for Colgate toothpaste uses evidence claims to help persuade the reader to buy their product. By showing the whitening advantages to Colgate as opposed to Crest, the company is trying to convince toothpaste buyers to purchase their brand. This ad appeals to viewer’s logic by telling them that four out of five dentists recommend their product. Presentation: This project will also be graded on how appealing it is. Your ads and summaries should be posted on a tri-fold board in an attractive manner. Your poster should be colorful and organized. Each advertisement should be labeled and should be easy for your viewers to understand. It should be organized and eye-catching. Public Speaking: Public speaking will also play a role in the project. On the day the projects are due, you will be asked to present your ads to the class. We will be discussing the art of public speaking in the coming weeks. However, I will be looking for professional dress, speaking volume, eye contact and your ability to keep your audience’s attention. Due Date: The week of Monday, January 27th. NO LATE PROJECT WILL BE ACCEPTED!!You will be assigned a partner for this project. Like any assignment given this way, it is very important that each person pulls their weight. Each person will fill out a partner evaluation sheet at the end of the project that will inform me of the work load and management of the project. If a partner is not actively participating, it is your responsibility to assertively address this with their partner and myself during the working period. Please do not wait until the project due date to inform your partner or myself of this as this is also not good peer-working behavior. The vast majority of this project will be done in class. We will start work on this project Tuesday, January 14th in class. You and your partner will have 7 class periods (with my help) to get this project finished. I encourage you to use their time wisely during class. Anything that can not get done at school will of course become homework. There should be no reason this project cannot be finished in class. I will also hold after school working time from 2:00-3:00 on: January 9th January 22ndJanuary 15th January 23rd I have seen and understand the propaganda projects guidelines, rubric and due date. I understand that I will not be able to turn my project in late. Child’s Signature: _______________________________________Parent’s Signature: ______________________________________ ................
