Do You Think We Are Too Reliant on Technology? Technology has weaved its way into the lives of almost every citizen of Earth, and it has become something that humans rely on for the simple tasks, such as basic addition. From calendars to the most high-tech gadgets, the dependence that people have on technology may be turning into addictions. Today, phone addictions are being compared to drug addictions, and this would not have been possible without the reliance people have on technology. The dopamine from a message popping up on a phone affects the brain’s “pleasure center” the same way addictive drugs, such as cocaine, do. Studies have shown that about half of teens in the U.S and Japan feel addicted to their phones with a growing number of adults being dependent on their technology CITATION Vuo17 \l 4105 (Vuong).
