Tulsa Handweavers Guild

February Weave AlongWe are going to try one of our first “weave-along” demonstrations during our next Zoom meeting.? Since it’s February, we thought a Valentine themed program would be a fun.?Many of you may have done something similar in grade school but this was new to me.? I hope this reignites the little kid in you and you make some Valentines for your sweethearts.? It would be a nice way to send a little love to a friend during these crazy times. You will need to do a little homework prior to our meeting.? Attached to this email is a template called “Danish-Hearts-by-MADE-Everyday”.? Print out the first page of the templates on white paper and on red paper.? If you don’t have red paper, then use any color you have laying around.? If you only have white paper then print both on white and then get your crayons out and color one of the templates.? (When was the last time you had an excuse to get your crayons out?)Cut out one of the templates from each sheet so you have two different colors to work with.? It’s easier to have two different colors to work with when you do this the very first time.? Once you get the hang of it, you can use whatever colors or patterned paper you want.?You should have two oval templates with three slits cut into each one.? This is where we will start weaving during our “weave-along”.? For those of you that are not able to attend our Zoom meeting, I’ve attached instructions on how to make these Valentines. The template document includes several different templates.? Each template will create a different pattern on the heart.? They are all woven the same way.? If you give the other patterns a try, be sure to cut sharp clean edges otherwise your pattern won’t turn looks crisp.?Look forward to seeing you on the next Zoom meeting!? (And don't forget about the FABULOUS door prize!)Weave On!MaryWe are going to try one of our first “weave-along” demonstrations during our next Zoom meeting.?
