Reporting to the Principal and various network administrators, teachers are responsible for the development and execution of a standards-aligned curriculum, continuous improvement of their instructional practices based on feedback, support, and adequate intellectual preparation on their part, and collaboration on areas of instructional and/or curricular need at the school. Teachers will be held accountable by the Principal, Chief Academic Officers and other network administrators in regard to their performance and growth, student achievement, and quality of delivery of instruction. The Teacher is a full-time position with an immediate start date. Essential FunctionsCurriculum, Instruction, AssessmentCreate standards-aligned curriculum including curriculum maps, unit plans, and lesson plans; develop interim, midterm, and final assessments as neededDevelop and implement ambitious, standards-aligned lesson plans targeted with end goal of student performance at or above grade level expectationsProvide engaging, motivating, and rigorous instruction in whole-class and individual settingsAttend all Professional Learning Community Meetings and professional development sessionsProvide academic support and tutoring to small groups or individual students as neededWork to continuously improve effectiveness in all instructional practices, using school’s teacher performance evaluation rubric as a guideUse feedback to make productive changes in performanceAdministrativeAnalyze student achievement data in collaboration with the academic teamImplement data tracking system and use data to inform instructional development and deliveryEnter in student performance data in a timely mannerComplete all administrative requirements before given deadlinesCultureTeach and enforce school-wide systems, rules and consequences, disciplinary codes, and rewards at all timesCommunicate regularly and proactively with students and familiesCollaborate with other staff members and actively participate in all professional development and learning activitiesParticipate in additional activities including field trips, monitoring of designated sporting events, and other required programs as needed throughout the yearReport to work daily with a positive and solutions-oriented attitude and demeanor Candidate ProfileEducation and Certification:Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree (preferred)Tennessee Professional Educator License (preferred)Eligibility for Tennessee Professional Educator License (required)Content area certification (preferred)Experience and Skills:Technological proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPointExcellent communication skillsHigh level of personal organization and planningMinimum of one year working in urban education with a history of significant gains in student performance and/or growth (preferred)Bi-Lingual (desired)Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities, including those with low skill level in a heterogeneously grouped classroom settingCulture and Fit:MUST HAVE A LOVE FOR CHILDREN AND THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM DESPITE THEIR FLAWS and this must be evident through speech and mitment to the mission and organizational success of Memphis Business Academy SchoolsAmbition and desire to grow as a leader Openness to feedback, a willingness to take personal responsibility for the affairs of the school Entrepreneurial spirit Personal and professional integrity Team playerAbout Memphis Business Academy Charter Schools “Home of the Executives and Scholars”, Memphis Business Academy, Inc. sponsors four schools serving the North Memphis/Frayser area. Memphis Business Academy Middle (MBAM) School began operation in 2005 with approximately 70 6th-grade students. In 2008, the Memphis Business Academy High (MBAH) School opened to serve the 9th-grade students moving up from MBAM. Finally, the Memphis Business Academy Elementary (MBAE) School began operation in 2011, serving students in grades K and 1. The 2015-16 school year was the first in which the network served all grades from kindergarten through 12th. During the 2016-17 school year, the MBA network opened a fourth school, Memphis STEM Academy (MSA) and will expand to the Hickory Hill area to open Memphis Business Academy Hickory Hill Elementary and Middle Schools in the 2018-2019.The MBA network promotes high levels of academic achievement and help students develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that will enable them to be successful at the next level of K-12 schooling and beyond.MBA has a genuine care for our community, our families, our Executives, our employees.
