If you are submitting more than one arts area for consideration (creative writing and music performance, for example) please upload these in two separate folders indicating the different arts areas. It is recommended that you have a Word document providing more information about each submission (medium, date, a short description of each, etc.). Additionally, if you are submitting links to files (YouTube or Vimeo, for example), please submit these in a Word document and ensure that the links work.Tips: Take your time putting together your portfolio. Make sure photographs of your art are sharp and clear, you are easily identifiable in any performances and the sound is clear. Organize your folders on the drive in a logical fashion. This is your art, make sure it makes you look good. You might have worked on projects with a group. If so, that’s great! Let us know what part of the project you worked on: for example, you might have made a video with friends as actor, so you should let us know that you were responsible for the shooting the video, or editing the video, or doing the animation, or doing the sound.NARRATIVE STATEMENTA central goal of the Honors College is for you to?create a remarkable story?as an ETSU Honors student. With our help, as an artist in the performing and visual arts, you will go beyond classroom excellence through your artistic creativity and become a positive agent for change through meaningful and purposeful work that betters your life, your community, and the world.??Write an essay in which you (a) describe the experiences that have helped shape who you are today as an artist, (b) talk about at least one experience that you hope to have as an ETSU honors student in your art work and practice that will advance your remarkable story, and (c) describe your passion for the arts. This should be in a separate Word document.Tip: Make sure your essay is well written! We're trying to get a feel for how you approach the work that you do, what moves you to do it, what or who inspires you, your history with this type of work, and what is most satisfying about the work for you.LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATIONYou must submit contact information for THREE references who can provide letters of recommendation with your application, in a separate Word document. At least TWO of those letters must be requested from people familiar with your artistry. Please provide their name, email, work phone number, and relationship to you (drama teacher, orchestra director, etc.).Tip: Get letters of recommendation from people who have taught you how to make art, because they can speak to your artistic potential best! The Honors College will contact your references directly to receive your letters of recommendation, so please make sure the contact information is correct. You will receive an email confirming that your application is complete.
