Native Americans of Texas Project - Fort Bend ISD

Objective: Students will research a Native American Cultural Group of Texas and create a report, scrapbook, or power point presentation about that Cultural Group.
Students may choose from the following Cultural Groups:
Southeastern Cultures – Caddo, Wichita, Atakapan
Plains Cultures – Tonkawa, Apache, Comanche, Kiowa
Puebloan Cultures – Jumano, Concho, Tigua
Western Gulf Cultures – Karankawa, Coahuiltecans

The Type of project I choose to create is ____________________________________
For each project, you will present the information as if you were a member of that cultural group.
Your project will include the following information:
1. Title Page – includes name of cultural group, your Native American Name (one you create for yourself), your real name and class period.
2. Purpose of your project – As a member of your tribe, why are you recording/detailing information about your cultural group? This should be a paragraph.
3. Location in Texas (Area you settled) – Show your location on a map.
4. Geography – What geographic region does your tribe live in and how does the region affect your tribe.
5. What type of home/shelter do you live in? How is it made? Describe and have pictures.
6. What type of food do you eat? How do you get your food. Have pictures.
7. What type of clothes did your tribe wear? What are your clothes made out of? Have pictures and describe.
8. Does your tribe have a religion or spiritual beliefs? If so, what is it?
9. List any interesting facts about your tribe.
10. Make sure to have pictures to represent your tribe.

4. One topic per page (ex. Location=1 page, Shelter=1 page)
5. Minimum of 8 pages – that’s one topic per page.

1. Must be typed.
2. You must include steps 1-10
3. Must be written in paragraph form with no fewer than 3 sentences per paragraph.
4. One topic per paragraph (ex. Location=1 paragraph, Shelter=1 paragraph)
5. Must include pictures.
Power Point Presentation –
1. Must be typed
2. Must include steps 1-10
3. One topic per slide (ex. Location=1 slide, Shelter=1 slide)
4. Minimum of 8 slides
5. Must include pictures
