TEXAS - 9/11 Health Watch
TEXAS Fact Sheet on
H.R. 847, the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act
Texas has:
• 267 responders and 154 survivors are enrolled in the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Registry as of September 2010. Enrollment in the WTC Health Registry was voluntary for people who lived, worked or went to school in the area of the WTC disaster, or were involved in rescue and recovery efforts. To enroll, people completed a confidential baseline health survey in 2003 or 2004. Each enrollee answered a series of questions about where they were on 9/11, their experiences and their health. The Registry completed its adult follow-up survey in 2007. (See below for a breakdown by Congressional District.)
• 245 providers in the World Trade Center National Responders Program (see map). The WTC National Responders Program, operated by the CDC and managed by Logistics Health, Inc. (LHI), was set up to monitor and treat responders outside of the NYC-NJ metropolitan area. All 50 states have at least one of the 5,029 active health care providers in the National Responders Program. Each provider has delivered medical services to one or more responders.
