Early Childhood Interventionist

Job Description

Reports to: Campus Principal

Status: Exempt

Term: 187 days

Primary Purpose: To support the district¡¯s early childhood instructional programs to ensure academic

improvement and student success. The focus of the position is on instructional interventions for

struggling students and teacher support.

Education/Certification

Bachelor¡¯s Degree (Masters Degree preferred)

Valid Texas Teacher Certification appropriate for area assigned

Experience:

Five years experience as a classroom teacher

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Works with individual students and student groups to provide effective interventions to

improve student performance.

2. Support classroom instruction through modeling and mentoring.

3. Facilitate campus screening and assist with all other state and local assessments as needed.

4. Review student data with classroom teachers and assist in determining appropriate tiered

intervention.

5. Assist classroom teachers in determining and implementing appropriate tiered intervention.

6. Serve as a member of the campus RtI committee.

7. Work with district Instructional Specialists in the developing and implementing effective

intervention programs.

8. Assist classroom teacher and Instructional Specialist in the delivery of district-wide

instructional initiatives.

9. Confer with principals and district administrators concerning instructional issues.

10. Assist with coordinating campus and district efforts to improve instruction for each child.

11. Facilitate, participate and provide campus and district staff development.

12. Meet weekly with campus Instructional Specialist for planning and information

dissemination.

13. Work with Instructional Specialists and administrators to create a collaborative team to

strengthen the instructional program of the school and district.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer, phone systems, video/instructional equipment, and

peripherals [P.E. teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]

Posture: Prolonged siting and standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping,

pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking; repetitive computer work with frequent use of hands and wrists

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and

classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside from school, home, or location other than school building, may work

outside; regular exposure to noise and computer monitors

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
