Calculator Policy
All students enrolled in a math course at South Hadley High School are expected to have their own calculator for in-class and home use. Teachers will provide specific instruction in class that will utilize the calculators, and it is essential that students have access to the calculator at home in order to practice using it effectively. The type of calculator required depends on the course and its level.

|Honors or AP Calculus |from $95 to $140, depending on the model. (They can also be |
|AP Statistics |purchased for significantly less on ebay or Craig’s list.) |
Any student who is unable to obtain an appropriate calculator due to financial hardship must fill out the form on the back and have it signed by a parent or guardian. When the completed form is returned to Ms. Young in room 607, the student will be issued a school-owned calculator to use for the year. At the end of the year, the student will be required to return the calculator in the same condition in which it was issued. Students will be charged to replace any lost or damaged calculator at the following rate:

I am unable to purchase the required calculator for my child at this time, and I would like the Math Department to issue him/her a calculator for use during this academic year. I understand that the school does not own enough calculators to provide one to every student, and that this option is for those families who cannot afford to purchase the required calculator. Furthermore, I understand that I will be charged the full replacement cost for this calculator if it is not returned at the end of the year in good, working condition.
