SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 146

WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in

recognizing Enrique "Rick" Dovalina, on his outstanding work

as a leading Houston citizen and as national president of the

League of United Latin American Citizens; and

WHEREAS, A graduate of Bates College of Law at the

University of Houston, Rick Dovalina is a partner in the law

firm of Dovalina, Eureste, Villarreal and Landa, a full-service

firm with an emphasis in personal injury, worker's compensation,

family law, and municipal bond law; and

WHEREAS, A highly respected community leader,

Rick Dovalina is well known for his commitment to social

activism and is involved in numerous pro bono and civil

activities; he was a board member of SER Jobs For Progress

and has been a member of the League of United Latin American

Citizens in Houston Council 673 since 1986; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Dovalina has served as a League of United

Latin American Citizens council president, treasurer, legal

advisor, and District VIII director; he was a legal advisor to

the previous League of United Latin American Citizens national

president and was elected national president on July 4, 1998; and

WHEREAS, He is active in local, state, and national

politics and is a member of numerous organizations, including

the Mexican American Bar Association, the American Trial Lawyers

Association, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers; and

WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman who has distinguished

himself in his profession and as a civil activist, Rick Dovalina

has received numerous awards for his dedicated service to the

League of United Latin American Citizens, and he brings to his

position as national president a wealth of experience and

first-rate leadership skills; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

76th Legislature, hereby commend Enrique Dovalina on his

invaluable service to the League of United Latin American

Citizens and to his community; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
