Licenses

Fishing licenses are valid annually from September 1 to August 31. The first Saturday in June of each year is the annual Free Sport-fishing Day and no person is required to have a fishing license or stamps while sport fishing on that day.

Resident

Lifetime Resident Hunting $600

Residents may buy hunting and fishing licenses valid for the lifetime of the license holder. The lifetime license exempts the holder from state stamp endorsement requirements. The lifetime license does not exempt the holder from the Federal Duck Stamp requirement. Lifetime tags may be obtained at retailers each year at no fee. Applications for lifetime licenses may be obtained only from TPWD offices or by calling (800) 792-1112. Lifetime licenses are only available from the TPWD Austin headquarters.

Hunting and Fishing Combination- $47

Valid for both hunting and fishing for Texas residents only. This includes the Freshwater (trout) stamp.

Resident Super Combo- $64

License package includes Resident Combination Hunting and Fishing license and 6 state stamp endorsements (archery, freshwater fishing (trout), saltwater fishing with a red drum tag, turkey, waterfowl, and white-winged dove). The Federal Waterfowl Stamp is not included.

Resident Fishing- $28

Required of any Texas resident who fishes in the public waters of Texas. This includes the Freshwater (trout) stamp. (Note: All members of the U.S. Armed Forces on active duty and their dependents are considered residents.) You do not need this license if you:

· Are less than 17 years of age.

· Were born BEFORE September 1, 1930.

· Area mentally disabled person who is engaging in recreational fishing as part of medically approved therapy, and who is fishing under the immediate supervision of personnel approved or employed by a hospital, residence, or school for the mentally disabled persons. The mentally disabled person must carry an authorization, identifying the entity supplying the service. This authorization may be in the form of an I.D. card that contains the name of the sponsoring entity.

· Hold a valid Super Combo or Resident Combination License.

· Hold a valid Temporary (3-day or 14-day) Resident Fishing License.

· Hold a valid Special Resident Fishing License.

· Hold a valid Disabled Veteran Hunting and Fishing License.

· Hold a Lifetime Resident Combination Hunting and Fishing License.

· Hold a Lifetime Resident Fishing License

Special Resident Fishing- $11

Required of any Texas resident fishing in the public waters of Texas who is at least and born on or after September 1, 1930, or is legally blind. This includes the Freshwater (trout) stamp.

Disabled Veteran Hunting and Fishing License- Free

Available to a resident qualifying as a disabled veteran. Official proof of disability (issued by the V.A.) must be shown when applying for this license and must state the rate of disability. Includes all 6 state stamp endorsements, but does not include the Federal Waterfowl Stamp.

Annual Non-resident License- $55

This license is required of all non-residents who fish in the public waters of Texas. This includes the Freshwater (trout) stamp. This licenses is not required if you are a:

·Non-resident under 17 years of age

·Louisiana resident 65 years of age or older who possesses a valid Louisiana Recreational Fishing License

·Oklahoma resident 64 years of age or older
