Wayfair supreme court decision, Kencove Farm Fence, Inc. is required to collect tax in all fifty states. For this reason, it is our civic duty to collect, report, and remit sales tax in a competent and efficient manner. What this means for our customers. State and/or local sales tax will be calculated by the destination state in which the material is received (i.e., shipped to). For example, an Ohio customer shipping product to Georgia will be subjected to Georgia sales tax. How can I become exempt from paying the tax? There are a few ways our customers can become exempt from sales tax:Customers who are registered retailers in their state may submit a properly executed resale license certificate of exemption. Upon receipt of the exemption, you will receive tax exempt status on orders shipped to the state in which the license of resale is issued. Customers who operate an internet-based company and utilize the “drop ship” method are encouraged to follow the steps provided below to insure they meet the requirements of exemption for each state.Streamlined Sales Tax:A multitude of states have elected to participate in Streamlined Sales Tax, or SST. Note: In addition, the above states will also accept the sales tax licenses and/or certificates of resale from each individual state. Uniform Sales and Use Tax Exemption/Resale:The six states listed below will accept the Uniform Sales and Use Tax Exemption/Resale form.AlabamaIdahoSouth CarolinaArizonaMaineTexasAs indicated above, all information must be provided for this form to be accepted. To accurately complete this form, provide the information requested in the document, including a signature and date.?Note: These states will also accept the sales tax licenses and/or certificates of resale from each individual state. Destination State Requirements:The following states will accept resale license numbers from other states, but require individuals to use the destination states form. For example, an individual residing in Ohio wishing to ship items to Pennsylvania, must fill out a Pennsylvania sales tax exemption form (REV-1220). State sales tax certificates are valid for 3-5 years depending. We have elected to review certificates every three years from the signature date unless an expiration date is identified on the form. Upon this review, we will determine the validity of the certificate and expire the certificate if applicable.How will I know when my exemption expires? When a new order is placed, our dedicated product specialists will indicate if your exemption certificate has been submitted for review. If it is determined that the certificate on file has expired, a blank form will be sent for completion. If the certificate remains valid, we will extend its life for an additional three years, or until the identified expiration date.How do I send my forms to Kencove? Tax exemptions can be emailed to our product specialists when your order is placed; faxed to 888-908-5353 or mailed.Where do I find the forms I need? Can I just give you my tax number over the phone or by email? No. You must provide a properly executed sales tax exemption form to be granted sales tax exemption.The sales tax laws in the United States are complex and ambiguous.
