Step 1: Submit application and application fee electronically to INSPIRE TEXAS.

Step 2:

Submit all official transcripts to INSPIRE TEXAS at least 15 business days prior to the first day of training (bachelor's degree conferred or in last semester of bachelor's degree).

Step 3:

INSPIRE TEXAS staff reviews transcripts: If applying with a degree from a university outside of the U.S.A., transcripts must be evaluated by an approved credential evaluation company and verified for authenticity. All candidates must prove English proficiency by one of three methods: a degree from the U.S.A., a degree with all instruction in English (see Texas Education Agency (TEA) list of approved countries), or passing TOEFL scores.

Step 4:

If accepted, candidate receives an acceptance letter by email. Instructions for program registration and field experience are included.

If denied, candidate receives a disapproval email indicating what items must be completed for approval. Candidate may submit documentation for appeal.

Step 5: Once accepted, candidate registers for training by accessing the candidate's INSPIRE TEXAS account.

charter schools, or accredited private schools for an internship. Once received, the candidate submits the SOE as part of the candidate's job application. Candidate may choose to do clinical teaching (unpaid) instead of an internship; the clinical teaching application is in the candidate's Region 4 account and must be submitted by the appropriate deadline (An intern certificate and SOE is NOT required to participate in clinical teaching). Step 11: Once employment is obtained for an internship, district HR completes the Statement of Eligibility (SOE) form and submits the form via email to internshipdocs@. Step 12: INSPIRE TEXAS staff will email instructions for applying for the intern certificate after SOE is received. An active intern certificate is required for the internship to count toward certification. Step 13: Office of Finance Support (InspireTexasFinance@ ) at INSPIRE TEXAS will email the Financial Agreement Form to interns with instructions necessary to establish autodraft (credit/debit card or electronic check) payments directly with INSPIRE TEXAS for the Internship Fee. A minimum initial payment will be required for the intern certificate recommendation by INSPIRE TEXAS staff. Step 14: Intern applies for the intern certificate. Step 15: INSPIRE TEXAS assigns a field supervisor to the candidate; principal assigns a campus administrator and a mentor to the candidate. Step 16: The field supervisor, campus administrator, and mentor meet with the candidate on campus during the first three weeks of beginning the practicum for orientation. Step 17: INSPIRE TEXAS gives approval for the edTPA exam. Step 18: Candidate registers for the edTPA exam at . This is taken during the first semester of the internship or the clinical teaching assignment. Step 19: Observations are conducted by the field supervisor, campus administrator, and mentor throughout the 10-month internship or 14-week clinical teaching assignment (If clinical teaching, no mentor is assigned. The cooperating teacher serves as classroom support). Step 20: Once the practicum is completed successfully, all required certification exams have been passed, all program training requirements are completed, and all fees have been paid, the candidate applies for the standard teaching certificate at the TEA website (). All fees must be paid in full in order for the candidate to be approved for the Standard Certificate. Step 21: INSPIRE TEXAS recommends the standard certificate and TEA issues the certificate. Step 22: Congratulations! At this point, the candidate is a fully certified teacher in Texas.
