#KindnessforConnor (and extra credit)On March 6, Connor Crooks, a terminal brain cancer patient, celebrated his third birthday. In his honor, his family (mom Erin, dad Casey, and twin sister Claire) has designated March “Kindness for Connor month.” What this means is that they’d like as many people as possible to commit random acts of kindness in Connor’s honor, in the hopes of making his impact on the world as bright as possible in the small time he has on it. To assist them in that endeavor, I’m offering extra credit for your participation in this worthwhile project. What can you do to help, you ask? And how can you earn extra credit for it?Commit a random act of kindness. This can be free or can cost $$; it can be time-intensive or take just a minute; it’s all up to you, and no act is too small. Go out of your way to brighten someone’s day in a way you might not otherwise. If you need some ideas, the internet is full of inspiration. Connor’s mom, Erin, has a blog, and she’s posted pictures of some of the posts people have been sending her of acts of kindness done in Connor’s name (). That’s a good place to start. Another is a picture to correspond with your act of kindness, and post it to social media with the following 3 hashtags: #kindnessforconnor #kidsgetcancertoo #payitforward (please use all privacy and safety precautions you would use when posting any text or image to social media sites) If you do not use social media or would prefer not to post an image to a social media platform, you can simply create a Word or Google Docs file with the image and the hash tags below it instead) Take a screen shot of your post and send it to my Highlands email (chiangL@)For the month of March, your random acts of kindness will earn you extra credit in my class; each act will be worth between 5 and 15 points at my discretion. You can participate as much or as little as you like. All submissions must be received no later than 12:01 AM on April 1, 2015.Have fun being kind and creative! I can’t wait to see what you come up with #kindnessforconnor #kidsgetcancertoo #payitforward ................
