|Notice: |The minimum period of notice to which a teacher is entitled, and must give on resignation, is: |

Please read the rest of this letter carefully, as the following pages outline the conditions of this offer and some actions that you must complete before you can start your employment with us.

Your terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the provisions set out in the School-based Staff Handbook, The Conditions of Service for School Teachers in England and Wales (‘The Burgundy Book’) and the Teachers Pay and Conditions Document.

An extract from the School Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document detailing the conditions of employment of Class Teachers is enclosed with this letter (entitled Part 10 – Teachers). You can access the full document at .uk.

As an employee of the London Borough of Hackney you will be required to pursue actively council’s policies on equal opportunities and to undergo any training associated with this.

Conditions of the offer of appointment

The offer of appointment is subject to:

1. Satisfactory references being received.

2. Verification of your identity.

3. Satisfactory DBS clearance.

4. Medical clearance.

5. Confirmation of your teacher reference number.

6. Qualified Teachers’ Status

7. Confirmation of your right to work in the United Kingdom in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006 and proof of National Insurance Number.

8. Proof of qualifications where relevant to your application.

As this is a conditional offer, you are advised not to resign from your current post until you have received written confirmation that your references, DBS and medical clearances are satisfactory. You will not be able to start employment before these checks have come back as satisfactory.

IMPORTANT – Actions required by you prior to employment:

Step 1 – Complete the Medical Questionnaire Form

The details will be sent to you via email from xxx OR you will be sent a questionnaire to complete.

Step 2 – Confirm your eligibility to work in the UK and present proof of qualifications

When you come into the school with your DBS documents (details below), please also bring evidence to confirm your eligibility to work in the United Kingdom (UK or EU passport, work permit, etc.), and proof of any qualifications relevant to the job.

Step 3 – Complete the online DBS Application Form

In line with safeguarding guidance, your post requires an enhanced DBS disclosure. You will receive an email with details of how to apply for a DBS Disclosure using our online system. The email will also give guidance on the documents you will need to present in order that we can verify your identity Please complete the online Application Form extremely carefully. If there are any errors, and it is rejected by the DBS, the process and your start date with us will be delayed.

Once your identification documents have been verified, we will send it onto the DBS Team at the Learning Trust, who will countersign it and forward it onto the Disclosure and Barring Service.

If you have lived overseas in the last five years you will also be required to obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct from the relevant country before your employment can be confirmed.

You must complete the online DBS Application Form within one week and then arrange to see Name at the school, so your identification documents can be verified.
