SUBSTITUTE TEACHER RECOGNITION WEEK

Did you know that more than one full year of a child’s K through 12 education is taught by substitute teachers? Often with little or no training, these exceptional educators fill a significant gap in the education of our students by standing in for absent teachers. The dedication of these subs, in helping students learn, plays an important role in the instruction of our youth and deserves our appreciation. Please join us in recognizing the outstanding efforts of substitute teachers in our community during the National Substitute Teacher Recognition Week May 2-6.

Substitute teachers are part of the team of educators that give our students the gift of knowledge and provide them with the skills to be successful in life. We encourage parents to contact your local school districts and find out how you can express your appreciation to the substitutes who teach your children. We invite students to write thank-you notes to substitute teachers that have made a difference in the classroom or to simply tell a sub you are grateful for the service they perform. Please take a moment during Substitute Teacher Recognition week to remember and honor the hard work of these educators. For more information on how you can help to recognize substitute teachers in your area, contact at 1-800-922-4693.
