WHEREAS,WilliamA.O'NeillhasservedwithdistinctionontheBoardofRegentsof theUniversityofAlaskasince1948andhasretiredfromserviceonMarch1,1973; and WHEREAS,asVicePresidentoftheBoard,1956-1969,andasPresidentofthe Board,1969-1973,RegentO'Neilldisplayedableleadershipintheseimportant offices;and WHEREAS,RegentO'Neill,alifelongAlaskanandagraduateoftheUniversityinthe Classof1934,broughttotheBoardastrongcommitmenttoservehisStateandhis AlmaMater;and WHEREAS,RegentO'Neillhasplayedamajorroleinguidingtheexpansionofthe UniversitystatewideduringthetermsofofficeofallfourUniversityPresidentsto thisdate;and WHEREAS,RegentO'Neill,throughhisspecialknowledgeofengineering,was effectiveinguidingtheconstructionofnewphysicalfacilities,notonlyatthe FairbanksCampus,butaRegionalCentersandCommunityCollegesthroughoutthe state; NowTherefore,beitresolvedthattheBoardofRegentsoftheUniversityofAlaska takeofficialrecognitionofWilliamA.O'Neill'slonganddevotedserviceandextend tohimthisstatementofappreciationforhissplendidcontributionstoAlaskaandits University; ANDbeitfurtherresolvedthatthisstatementofappreciationbeappropriately inscribedandconveyedtoWilliamA.O'Neill,withacopytobeincludedinthe officialminutesoftheMarch27-28,1973,meetingoftheBoardofRegents.
