VIDEO CASE STUDY GROUP PRESENTATION

INFORMATION PACKET

Purpose

A feature called Video Case Studies appears at the end of each chapter. You are asked to work as a team to select one movie to analyze and answer critical thinking questions that require understanding and application of chapter material in your text and to deliver a group presentation. (See the list of films attached.)

________________________________________________________________

General Instructions

• Your team will select one video from two or three chapters. There will be two or more videos per chapter from which to make your selection. Whichever video you select is assigned to a specific chapter.

• Your team will study the film/video to look for learning points within the chapter.

• Your team will have 30 minutes to make your presentation. The presentation should not be under 20 minutes. Points will be deducted from your grade for running over or under the time limit. After the presentation, there will be a question and answer session.

• Teams need to meet outside of class to prepare as needed or set up e-mail communication to ensure a well prepared presentation.

• Grades will be affected, if any member does not show up the day of the scheduled presentation or is not prepared to present.

• Each participant will share participation as equally as possible in the preparation as well as the presentation. Each person must have an assigned responsibility to carry out. No one person, or only a few, should have the burden of all of the work. The group as a whole is responsible and accountable for the success of the assignment.

• Teams will be assessed by their peers (i.e., classmates who are not part of the group presentation). See Peer Evaluation Criteria attached.

Group Presentation Criteria

• Cite chapter and video selection up front and why you selected the video and chapter.

• Introduce each team member.

• Cite each team member’s presentation responsibility.

• Cite any other research sources used in addition to your text and film.

• Cite the assignment questions for analysis provided in the video case study in the chapter or you may go beyond the what the author is asking of you in the relationship of learning points covered in the chapter or chapters.

• Give a brief plot summary.

• Teams should show brief scenes from the video to illustrate certain discussion points, if they choose.

• Follow the Peer Evaluation Criteria (that will be used to assess your group presentation).
