PG Movie Permission Slip
The Outsiders: The Movie
Permission Slip
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Seventh Grade Language Arts is reading the book “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton. This story of troubled youths is about two gangs, the Greasers and the Socs. They deal with society’s prejudice, family issues, and learning to cope with grief. It is always one of my favorite books to teach and remains a favorite of students as well. To close the unit, I would like to show the movie as a follow-up to the novel as the movie version stays true to the book.
Students will “Compare and Contrast” the similarities and differences between the social groups of the 1960’s and the social groups of the present time. Parents, feel free to talk to your children about the differences and similarities that you also notice between the generations.
District regulations require teachers to have parental permission to show any movies rated over G in class. By signing this permission slip you are allowing your child to watch a PG rated movie in class. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. This permission slip applies to the following movie: The Outsiders.
Thank You,
Monica Rivera
