Students will read and report about the origins of the Vietnam War and why the United States became involved in the war. They will then explore pictures and videos from people who were actually in the war. The students will give a short presentation showcasing their findings.

| |Day One: |

| |Background research - Students will use their textbooks and the Internet to research|

| |the origins of the Vietnam War. They will use the "background worksheet" to help |

| |organize their research. They will prepare a summary as to why the United States |

| |became involved in the war. |

| |Day Two: |

| |Video Analysis - Students will watch different interviews of Vietnam veterans. The |

| |students will fill out the "video analysis tool" to help organize their thoughts. |

| |Day Three: |

| |Photo Analysis - Students will look at different pictures from veteran's pages. The |

| |students will fill out the "primary source analysis tool" to help organize their |

| |thoughts. |

| |Day Four: |

| |Organize Presentation - Students will organize their presentation and be ready to |

| |speak to the class during the next lesson. They will use the Presentation rubric as |

| |a guide. |

| |Day Five: |

| |Presentation - Students will present their findings to the class. Each presentation |

| |should follow the Presentation rubric. |

Summary – Summarize the movie in a couple paragraphs. Be sure to include events from the beginning, middle, and end of the movie.

Opinion – tell your opinion of the movie. What did you like and what did you not like about the movie. What questions do you have regarding the movie?
