She says that if she were a butterfly, she would be thankful to God for her beautiful wings. If she were a myna (bird), she would be thankful as she can sing. If she were a fish in the sea, she would be thankful because she can move quickly in water and laugh lightly in delight. If she were an elephant, she would be thankful as she can raise her trunk. If she were a kangaroo, she would be thankful that she can jump high up to the moon. If she were an octopus, she would be thankful for her eight arms. Lastly, the girl expresses her happiness for being who she is and not somebody else. She thinks herself to be lucky for being created the way she is. The girl also asks the other children what do they want to be and if they would ever like to be her or do, they feel happy and lucky for being themselves. The poem teaches us that all the creatures created by God are beautiful and unique. The poem also teaches us to appreciate ourselves and builds upon the idea of self worth in kids. We are all special and lucky to be what we are. ------------------------------- ................
