SCENE 1: BUZZ BUZZ ON THE SUMMIT

(NESS, PORKY, and PICKY approach the meteorite. It radiates with a colorful golden glow. A beam of light shoots into the sky from the top of the meteorite. BUZZ BUZZ ascends in the light beam. The light then fades out and Buzz Buzz approaches the three children.)

BUZZ BUZZ

A bee I am... not. I'm from ten years in the

future, and in that future, all is devastation.

NESS

W-wait, what? You're not a...

Then what are you? Who are you?

BUZZ BUZZ

I am... Buzz Buzz. I have traveled from

the future, to relay a message

of the utmost importance. You must listen!

(The three boys, stunned, look on as Buzz Buzz continues to talk.)

BUZZ BUZZ

As I said, in the future, all is devastation.

This devastation is caused by none other

then Giygas, a being also known as the “Universal Cosmic

Destroyer”. Ten years from now, he

has sent... all to the horrors

of eternal darkness.

(Brief pause before Buzz Buzz resumes his speech.)

BUZZ BUZZ

However... where I am from, there is a

well-known legend that has been handed down

from ancient times. It says, “When the chosen boy

reaches the point, he will find the light. The

passing of time will shatter the nightmare rock,

and will reveal the path of light.”

(Another pause. Buzz Buzz approaches Ness specifically.)

BUZZ BUZZ

You see, it is in my opinion that you are

that boy, Ness. This I believe... (Points at Ness with a glowing, ET-like finger)

NESS

(Incredulous) Me? I'm Chosen?

PICKY

What's he chosen for?

BUZZ BUZZ

Giygas's monstrous plans must have

been set in motion somewhere on Earth.

If you start to confront the enemy

immediately, you may have time to counter

the evil intentions of Giygas.

NESS

Then... that means...

BUZZ BUZZ

Ness, three things are of the utmost

importance. Courage, wisdom... and friendship.

The legends tell of three boys and a girl, who

defeat Giygas.

NESS

Who are they?

PICKY

(Excited) Am I one of them?

PORKY

(anxiously)...a-and am I?

NESS

How do we find them?

BUZZ BUZZ

I will tell you more later.

For now, you have much work to do.

(Ness stands in front of Porky and Picky, wide-eyed at the revelation, but unable to summon his words, his thoughts frantically racing.)

BUZZ BUZZ

Thank you for listening to my long story.

You are as exceptional as I expected you to be.

...go now! And do not be anxious about the future.

(After a pause, Porky slowly inches towards Ness, nervous and worried beyond doubt.)

PORKY

Ness! It really looks like

you're in a lot of trouble this time.

(Ness looks back at Porky, raising an eyebrow, somewhat surprised at Porky's comment.)

PORKY

Three boys he said? Ah heh heh...

I'm... not one of those three... am I?

'cause, I'm not into this kind of thing at all!Pauses to ponder with a smirk, and we see a few child-like crayon drawings of Porky's ideal world ("New Pork City") while the King Porky theme plays)

PORKY

Geez, my heart is almost pounding out of my

chest right now!

(Ness continues to look at Porky. He then looks towards Buzz Buzz, who's been hovering overhead. With that, he looks back towards the horizon, towards the town of Onett. He walks onwards, Buzz Buzz and Picky behind. Porky halts for a few seconds, then glances at the meteorite.)

PORKY

W-wait up!

SCENE II: THE STARMAN JR.

(Ness, Buzz Buzz, Picky and Porky are proceeding down the Hill and towards the houses.)

NESS

So... I'm the chosen one?

Who chose me? And why me?

BUZZ BUZZ

It's... complicated. As I

comprehend it, you were chosen for a variety

of reasons. One of them, your talents.

NESS

Talents...?

BUZZ BUZZ

Surely, you've noticed. You have had

this talent since you were only a baby.

It is called Psychokinesis. (A cut-scene

follows the explanation, showing a diagram

of a figure showing how Psychokinesis

works in various ways.) PSI, for short.

Only a very few people in this world have it,

and it's origins are unknown. I, too can use PSI,

and I am experienced with it's power. You, Ness

will also grow with experience once your journey

truly begins.

NESS

Where do I start?

PORKY

(Nervously) Well, I don't know about you,

but Picky and I have to get back home NOW. (Looks at

Ness fearfully, as if he were some kind of monster)

Our mom and dad are going to be home any minute!

(At that moment, a loud thunderous sound along with flashes of light shine. Before the group, the figure of the STARMAN JR. materializes right in front of them.)

PORKY

AH! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!!

(Porky immediately runs behind Picky, who assumes a defensive stance.)

NESS

What is that?!

STARMAN JR.

It's been a long time Buzz Buzz.

Thus far, you've been successful at foiling

Giygas's plans. But, Buzz Buzz, you must

now surrender.

BUZZ BUZZ

You...! Starman Jr.!

STARMAN JR.

You are no longer a hero. Just a useless, insect.

I'll stomp you hard!

PORKY

You'll what?

(The Starman Jr. throws his arms forward.)

STARMAN JR.

PK Fire ß (pronounced “Beta”)

(A lightning bolt shape begins to shoot from the Starman Jr.'s arms.)

BUZZ BUZZ

Everyone, get back!

(Ness, Picky, and Porky shout and run in the opposite direction. The fire attack catches up to them quickly, and they each throw themselves to the ground, shouting as the bolt reaches them.)

BUZZ BUZZ

PK Shield ∑! (pronounced “Sigma”)

(Just before the fire reaches the three boys, a large wall of light forms in front of them. The bolt strikes the wall, and upon doing so, ricochets off of it and in random directions instead, protecting them from harm.)

NESS

W-wow!

PICKY

Cool!

PORKY

(Incoherent whimpering)

STARMAN JR.

Already you resort to your pathetic defenses.

Nothing but a waste of your psychic abilities.

NESS

That's Psychokinesis?

BUZZ BUZZ

Yes, this is a shield designed to protect from

PK attacks. But, it's not too strong, so we must act

while it still lasts.

STARMAN JR.

Not if I have anything to say about it!

PK Fire a (Alpha)! PK Fire a! PK Fire a!

(Repeated blasts of fire are shot towards Buzz Buzz. The wall of light breaks apart in the first two blasts, so Buzz Buzz dodges the final blast barely.)

NESS

(Shouts a battle cry)

(Ness rushes ahead, retrieving the cracked bat from his inventory. He leaps dramatically into the air, then swings the bat right against the Starman Jr. On contact, the bat snaps in two, the broken half of the weapon flying into the distance.)

NESS

(While holding the broken stub of the bat)

Uh...

STARMAN JR.

Be gone, child!

(The Starman Jr. grabs Ness and throws him back towards Picky and Porky. He crashes into the grass and spirals to a stop. The broken handle of the baseball bat falls at Picky's feet.)

PICKY AND PORKY

(Gasp!)

(Ness gets back up slowly, only with a hopeless expression, realizing that his weapon was now gone. Picky, who notices the bat handle at his feet, picks it up and holds it into the air.)

NESS

Picky? What are you doing?!

PICKY

Take this! H'ya!

(Picky throws the handle. It flies towards the Starman Jr., and hits it right in the eye-piece. The piece shatters on impact, with a “SMAAAASH!!” sound. At that precise moment, the Starman Jr. explodes in flash of sparks and PK blasts.)

NESS

...wow. Nice shot.

(Picky stands there, completely still, shocked.)

PORKY

(Pathetically)...is it safe now?

NESS

I think so.

BUZZ BUZZ

Whew! We were taking a big chance there!

He came from ten years in the future just to kill me, so we

can't relax yet!

NESS

You mean, there could be more of them

around here?

BUZZ BUZZ

I'm sure of it. From now on,

you'll be fighting enemies sent by

Giygas. In addition, there are

people in this world who have evil

hidden within them that Giygas can exploit

and warp to his advantage. Even the animals

can be manipulated, so you have to

be very careful from here on out.

NESS

That would explain those crows earlier.

PORKY

That's what you want to ask about,

Ness? Puh-lease! I want to know

more about this time traveling stuff!

BUZZ BUZZ

The power to travel through time would be hazardous to a

human being, so I cannot tell you anymore about---

PORKY

Ok, ok, sure. Come on, can we go home now?!

NESS

R-right, let's go.

(The group continues to proceed onwards, sans Picky. He still stands, posed in the throwing position where he defeated the Starman Jr. After a few seconds, Ness, Porky and Buzz Buzz come back, pick him up, and walk away.)

SCENE III: THE SOUNDSTONE

(Inside the interior of the Minch Home. The front door slowly opens up. Picky and Porky slowly peek inside. A moment later, they both begin tip-toeing in. Ness and Buzz Buzz follow inside. They proceed to make a few steps into the house.)

LARDNA

There you children are!

(The group find LARDNA AND ALOYSIUS MINCH in the living room, looking back at them, looking very upset.)

PORKY AND PICKY

(Crying and whimpering, Lardna's shadow looming over them)

LARDNA

Where in Sam’s hill have you boys been?

ALOYSIUS

Both of you are going to get it now!

(Picky and Porky glumly proceed upstairs. Aloysius follows them up while Lardna watches from below with Ness. Sudden crashing sounds can be heard.)

PORKY AND PICKY

(Distant panicked screaming)

ALOYSIUS

(Distant, incomprehensible shouting)

(Ness, uncomfortable, begins to make his walk towards the front exit, but is stopped by Lardna, who stands there, hands on her hips. A moment later, Aloysius returns downstairs.)

ALOYSIUS

By the way, I would be happy if you

leave sometime soon. Quite frankly, I'm tired

of your family living next door.

(Lights an expensive cigar that could have

paid for a month's worth of groceries for the family)

(Ness looks back, clearly offended, but keeps his mouth shut. As Aloysius gets closer, Ness stands his ground, noticeably his fist is clenched.)

ALOYSIUS

You see, We've loaned your father a lot of money.

It may have been a hundred thousand dollars

or more... and because that cheat of

a human being, my family and I now live in poverty!

(Ness turns around and begins to walk away. As he passes by Lardna, she looks at him with her look of piercing disapproval.)

LARDNA

My husband is far too lenient with the children.

Oh well, nice guys finish last, that's

the story of our life...

(Ness turns to look at the staircase where the Minch Brothers had gone. As he does, Buzz Buzz starts flying towards Lardna.)

LARDNA

Ayaaaeee!

I think it's a dung beetle!

I'll smash your guts out!

NESS

(Horrified) Wait, don't!

(Lardna strikes Buzz Buzz, causing him to crash to the ground with a sickening thud. Ness, instantly, falls to his knees. Fearing the worst, he looks at Buzz Buzz, a look of terror on his face. Lardna and Aloysius stand in the back of the room, looking at Ness.)

BUZZ BUZZ

(Suddenly stirring to life)

Agh! (Gasp)

I was... much weaker then I thought.

(Beat)

So now you must begin your journey...

(Brief silence.)

BUZZ BUZZ

Listen... to defeat Giygas, your own power

must unite with the Earth's... The Earth will

then channel your power and multiply it.

There are eight places that you must visit.

Make each of these places your own.

Each of these places will become “Your Sanctuary.”

One of them is here, in Onett. It is called, “Giant Step.”

Go there first...

(Ness nods silently.)

BUZZ BUZZ

...listen. Before I pass on, I want to give

you something. It is the sound stone.

(Buzz Buzz uses his PK abilities to create a small blue rock into his hand, which floats in the air. Ness reaches out and grabs the stone.)

BUZZ BUZZ

It has the power to record the power

of the Sanctuaries. It is the most

important item you'll need.

(A light shines on Buzz Buzz and Ness. It comes from the window as the sun rises.)

BUZZ BUZZ

Ness, it is already dawn outside...

(After a few moments, Ness panics, realizing Buzz Buzz has stopped moving.)

NESS

B-Buzz Buzz! Buzz Buzz! Wait!

(Ness sits at Buzz Buzz's corpse, in mourning. He closes his eyes and says nothing.)

ALOYSIUS

Get the dustpan, Lardna!

LARDNA

We are not serving you any breakfast,

young man. Go out and make something of yourself!

(Ness scoops Buzz Buzz in his hands)

SCENE IV: DAWN

(The front door of the Minches’ Home opens up. Ness walks outside slowly. He takes a few steps, then stops, glancing at the broken handle of the baseball bat from earlier.)

(Cut to Ness placing a patch of dirt on the ground. In front of that patch is the handle of the bat, with the handle pointed into the air vertically. The words “BUZZ BUZZ” are written on it in marker.)

(Cut to Ness, walking away from his home and towards Onett.)
