Stunning Transformation of Berwyn Family’s Home Continues in Latest Installments of Inspiring Online TV Series

Roof, siding, trim and windows are replaced as part of CertainTeed Living Spaces Home Makeover

(Malvern, Pa.) – Homeowners contemplating major home exterior remodeling projects will learn from and enjoy watching the experiences of a Berwyn, Pennsylvania family whose storm-damaged home is transformed, step by step, in a new Internet TV series. The two newest webisodes of the CertainTeed® Living Spaces® Facebook® Home Makeover Contest follow the continuing journey of contest winner Pastor Sue Ericsson and her family as roofing, siding, windows and trim products are selected and installed. The first four installments are now available on the CertainTeed Living Spaces YouTube® channel and Facebook page.

The series chronicles the entire renovation process, from the first meeting with the contractor to the beautiful final reveal. The family was chosen on the basis of a video made and submitted by Sue’s two sons, Amani and Gabe. The touching and amusing video features tongue-in-cheek vignettes of the boys taking their mom for granted, then acknowledging their lack of appreciation as they ask CertainTeed to help them demonstrate how much they love their mom by selecting the video they created as the winner.

In the third webisode, “CertainTeed’s Integrity Roof System provides peace of mind overhead,” Sue discusses the replacement of her roof with Greg Impriano of Impriano Roofing and Siding. The company, which has locations in Berwyn and Broomall, Pennsylvania, has worked with CertainTeed products for more than 40 years and is a credentialed CertainTeed 5-Star® Green Contractor and SELECT ShingleMaster®. Impriano sourced building products for the remodeling project from Marvic Supply Company in Edgemont, Pennsylvania.

The webisode starts off with Marvic delivering pallets of shingles and other supplies as Greg explains the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System™ to Sue. The system includes WinterGuard™ and DiamondDeck™ waterproofing underlayments; Landmark™ PRO shingles, designer architectural shingles that are backed by a lifetime limited warranty; and CertainTeed Ridge Vent and Intake Vent products for optimum attic ventilation that prolongs the lifetime of the roof and helps prevent ice damming.

Sue, her husband Chase, and their sons chose the Landmark PRO shingles, as well as the siding and trim shown in the fourth webisode, by using CertainTeed’s unique visualization tools. Web-based ColorView®, the CurbAppeal™ mobile app and ColorCoach™, an easy color coordinator, enabled the family to explore the many style and color options available in CertainTeed’s extensive line of roofing and siding products. (The second webisode provides a glimpse into how these visualization tools work.)

Sue and her family ultimately decided on Max Def Weathered Wood as the color for their new Landmark PRO shingles. The richer mix of the Max Def surface granules provide a brighter, more vibrant appearance and depth of color than standard shingles. “I like those Max Def colors,” Sue notes in the webisode. “They’re really intense, and I’m looking forward to that.”

In the fourth webisode, titled “Beautifying the Walls and Windows,” the team from Impriano moves on to replacement of an aging bow window and installation of new siding and trim. After trying out various color combinations with the CertainTeed visualization tools, Sue and her family picked CedarBoards™ insulated siding in Timber Blend. This 7-inch clapboard style vinyl siding features a custom-contoured foam backing that adds rigidity and an extra layer of insulating material to a home’s walls. Inside will be a quieter, more comfortable home and outside will provide the authentic look of natural wood.

To complete this part of the project, the installers from Impriano used a combination of Restoration Millwork® cellular PVC trimboard and Vinyl Carpentry™ trim around windows, doors and other openings. Sue was particularly happy to learn that these products require virtually no maintenance while evoking the quality of traditional wood craftsmanship. Referring to the clean white appearance of these trim elements, Sue notes “That’s going to look great against the siding. I love the color of the blend; it just looks terrific.”

Webisodes will be released every few weeks and are available for viewing at the CertainTeed Living Spaces Facebook page (certainteedlivingspaces) and YouTube channel (CTLivingSpaces). Viewers are encouraged to watch for a chance to participate in a variety of Facebook contests during the coming months.
