Symposium Goes Platinum was this year’s theme for the 20th annual event. For 20 years, the Kansas State University Music Symposium has brought an array of opportunities to music educators of all levels and disciplines. One goal of the symposium is showing participants how to refresh ourselves on our journey as music teachers as we elevate the quality of our music programs for out students and ourselves. These educators were engaged in events including reading sessions, technology consultation, performances, and nationally recognized speakers including Artie Almeida, an outstanding music educator and publisher of classroom music education materials. This year’s symposium celebrated the 20 years by commissioning a new work by Aldo Forte, which was presented at the City Band Concert by the Manhattan City Band and MESS (Music Educators Symposium Singers.) The week culminated in a premiere of a new children’s musical by nationally renowned children’s composers, Jill and Michael Gallina.
