The Crucible Final Project - SVSD

The Crucible Final Project

Honors American Literature 11

Mrs. Newell

Choose one of the following assignments:

• Create two wanted posters. Imagine that one of the accused witches has disappeared (there are many in this book). Underneath the picture, write their name in large, bold letters. Your wanted poster needs to include: a quick list of your character’s vital statistics, a brief paragraph that thoroughly describes their crime(s), the reward for their return, and any other layout details that may be associated with wanted posters. For full credit, your poster needs to be typed, have evidence of attention to detail, and color. They must each be presented on a standard size poster board; 11x16 or larger.

• Draw or paint an image from The Crucible.  You could draw a picture/portrait of any of the characters the way you see them.  OR you could paint a picture of any of the events or settings of the play.  This should be larger than the standard 8x11 size. If you wanted to do something three-dimensional, you could do that also. You should also include a paragraph describing your character or scene, using MLA citations from the text.

• Create a scrapbook based on the ideas and images in The Crucible.  You could organize your page by characters or by significant events in each act of the play. This should be at least 10 pages long. Purchase an actual scrapbook or construct one out of cardstock and binding.

• Act out a scene from the play. This must be done in front of the class on December 14th. The scene must be at least 4 minutes in length (no longer than 10). Lines must be memorized. Costumes and props are highly encouraged. This may include multiple students from your particular class (no more than 6 – you will be graded individually based on your contribution, number of lines, etc.).

Each option has its own rubric and requirements. This project is worth 100 points. It must be completed by December 14th. You must present your project to the class on December 14th – 15th.

Because you are being given more than a month to complete this project, I expect exceptional effort and organization.

You and your parent/guardian must sign the contract and return it to me by November 14th, 2016.
