Mrs. Anderson's Math Plans for April 13, 2020

Standard: MGSE4.MD.3 Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.

The Big Picture: Finding the area of a rectangle or square can be found using the formula l x w. The area should be expressed using square units. Finding the perimeter of a rectangle or square can be found using the formula 2l + 2w or 2(l + w). The perimeter should be expressed using linear units. Rectilinear figures can be decomposed into smaller rectangles and squares. The area of the smaller rectangles and squares can be determined using the formula a = l x w. The areas of the smaller rectangles and squares can be added together to find the total area of the rectilinear figure.

After participating or viewing our Google Meets on Tuesday, April 14th, please do the following:

1. Go to the Douglas County Portal and then go to Google Classrooms. Click on your homeroom and then click on Classwork. Click on the title, "Perimeter and Area Computation. There will be two worksheets. This is for practice: Area and Perimeter Worksheet and Basic Finding Area w/ Models. This does not need to be turned in. It is practice.

2. Take the Illuminate quiz titled, "Area and Perimeter" 3. Review the videos in Google classroom, "Area and Perimeter Videos".

4. Here is a great web site for practicing area and perimeter. I love the, "Perim-Bots". You are able to construct your own robot by answering the questions correctly. Cut and paste to get to this interactive website.
