Coca-Cola has been around for 131 years, created by a pharmacist in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. John S. Pemberton. The brand has changed though out the years through unique moments in history, but has became a product that is know globally (World of Coca-Cola, n.d.). Throughout the years the logo changed to provide milestones and statements of the product rejuvenating the brand and company's spirit. In 1887, the trademark was added to the logo. In 1890, the logo changed to add extra swirls. In 1985, the logo changed to a fishtail shape. 2011 in celebration of its 125 years, the logo sees bubbles. In 2013, launching "Share a Coke" campaign the company added a more personal touch to swapping the logo with customer's first names. Retrieved from 1971, Starbucks started by selling coffee beans in Seattle's Pike Place Market and evolved into a $10 billion global coffeehouse chain with approximately 20,891 stores in 62 countries (Raghav, 2016). The company name and logo was created from a character in the novel Moby Dick. The original logo was a black and white logo of a twin-tailed mermaid. In 1987, the logo changed to green when the company added handcrafted espresso to its menu. In 1992, the company became publically traded and a trademark was added to the logo. The logo once again changed in 2011, when the company hit it 40th anniversary, at this time the organization removed the name of the company from its logo to expand the brand beyond coffee. Starbucks main purpose for changing the logo was to demonstrate the company's growth (Johnson, 2011). The cups and packaging changes each season to provide a combination of expressive, purposeful, and customer-experience elements.
