Audio Book Guide: The Outsiders

Tips for using the audio book to further understanding of the novel

- Choose a quiet place with no distractions or use headphones to block out noise - Follow along in your novel (this is very important!) - Have your graphic organizer handy every time you read - Pause every few pages and be sure you are able to summarize what has happened. If not, go back and reread. - If you need to take a break, be sure to note the time on the audio track so you can easily return to the passage. - Indicate important pages and passages by placing sticky notes on them. - Use your critical reading skills! (summarize, ask questions, predict, visual, draw conclusions, etc.)
