Johnny was the only thing in Dally’s life that he loved. Johnny was something pure and innocent that didn’t deserve the fate he got. Dally couldn’t understand or handle life without Johnny and went on a spree of self-destructive behavior that got him killedDally wanted to die because he knew that life would never be the same without Johnny. Dally was driven by passion and was rash so when the only thing he valued died he couldn’t take it. Chapter 11He would rather people hate him than pity him because they don’t understand what life is like for a greaser. He doesn’t want people treating him like a victim because he is the one dealing with it and wants to be treated equally. He is in shock and doesn’t want Johnny remembered as the greaser who killed a soc. Chapter 12The circumstances that the teacher is referring to are Pony’s grades taking a major dive and his home life. Pony thinks that the teacher is talking about his being in trouble with the law. This is a complete change in character for Ponyboy. He would have been terrified before and now he seems hardened and fearless like Dally. Even Two-Bit is taken back by his behavior. Pony has been through so much and grown up. He is not an innocent little boy anymore. He is telling Pony that he can’t just give up on everyone and everything. He has to keep going with his schooling and needs to keep working to improve life while dealing with the death of two of his friends. It comes out that the baby she was carrying wasn’t Soda’s but he wanted to marry her anyway. She didn’t want that and went to Florida. Darry and Ponyboy keep trying to make Soda choose sides. Ponyboy can’t seem to see all that Darry is giving up to make sure Pony has the opportunities that Darry lost when their parents died. Darry yells too much and takes everything way too serious to make sure Pony gets those opportunities. They both need to consider the other’s point of view. Johnny was a hero. He was happy to give up his life so the other kids could live out theirs. Johnny was selfless to the end and was an inspiration to Pony. He takes it as his mission to tell his story for the English Assignment. He is going to give everyone the message the life can be beautiful no matter what circumstances you find yourself in. You have to hold onto things like the sunset that remind you of this. Stay gold means that you should treasure these things and treat others well. Johnny was a true hero and Ponyboy wanted to tell that story. ................
