THE JAYCEE CREED

We believe: That faith in God gives meaning

and purpose to human life;

That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;

That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;

That the government should be of laws rather than of men;

That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;

And that service to humanity is the BEST WORK OF LIFE.

Who are we, what do we do and why do we do it? Let us tell you...

In May of 1969, the Greater Waldorf Jaycees, under the leadership of Bill Drapler, was established with an objective to provide leadership through community service. Today, the chapter is comprised of many young leaders between the ages of 18 and 40 as well as many "associate members" (outside the 18-40 age range) who, together, continue this mission to make Charles County a better place to live. We adopted a focus in the areas of "Aid to the Elderly", "Aid to the Developmentally Disabled", "Crime Prevention", and "Community and Youth Assistance" that has served us and this community exceptionally well for almost five decades. Through several multi-year, multimillion dollar projects, the Greater Waldorf Jaycees have provided some of the finest facilities and programs in Maryland, the Nation, and the World.

Do you want to make an impact in your community? Want to have fun and feel great doing it? We are seeking young adults that would like to gain professional skills and leadership development. Come participate in fun networking events, informative trainings or just be a guest at one of our monthly membership meetings. Visit our website to see what opportunities we have to offer you.

Membership meetings are held on the fourth Monday of every month. Please visit the calendar on our website for this month's location.

Painting for a Purpose Since its inception in late 2015, this project has raised over $9,000 for a variety of charities including March of Dimes, Angel Watch, Southern Maryland Food Banks, Project Healing Waters and Wreaths Across America.

Run for Heroes 5k This project raises awareness and funds to support local veterans in their fight against PTSD and suicide. The money raised will help send veterans at risk to a local camp for confidence building activities, medical care and group support.

Senior Citizen Prom Music, dinner, dancing, and even the crowning of a king and queen are just some of what you'll see at this annual event. Volunteers come together to give local senior citizens a night they'll never forget.

Distinguished Young Women of Charles County As the oldest and largest scholarship program for high school junior females of its type, we have the honor of hosting and overseeing this program in the county. The young ladies that participate compete in categories such as scholastics, talent, interview, fitness and self-expression all to be considered for a scholarship to the college of their choosing.

Bounce Out the Stigma (BOTS) New to our roster in 2016, this 1-day basketball camp coached by a former player of the Harlem Wizards is specifically designed for children with special needs. It gives the players the opportunity to not only gain developmental skills, learn the fundamentals of teamwork, and strengthen their skills & knowledge of the game of basketball, but ultimately helps develop the self-confidence they need to believe that only their WILL defines their LIMITS!
