September 1919 – Hitler worked as an informant for the Army. April 1920 – Hitler left the Army and joined the German Workers Party. July 1921 – Hitler became the Nazi party’s chairman. January 1923 – Invasion of the Ruhr November 8th 1923 – Beer Hall Putsch. Hitler serves 9 months at Landsberg Fortress and pens Mein Kampf. Mein Kampf: Germany had to fight Marxism. Marxism was the invention of the Jews who were intent on world domination. Nazism was the only doctrine capable of fighting communism Nazism had to prepare population for war in order to obtain lebensraum Calls for racial unity Called for the elimination of Jews Authoritarian control No diversity or dissent 1924 – Dawes Plan 1925 – Locarno Pact 1925 – SS was set up 1926 – Germany joined the League of Nations May 1928 – Nazis win 12 seats in the Reichstag (2.6% of the vote) 1928 – Kellogg-Briand Pact 1929 – Young Plan 1929 – Great Depression September 1930 – Nazis had 107 seats in the Reichstag.1932 – Germany unemployment is at 6 million. March 1932 – Hitler won 30.2% of votes cast in the 1st round of the presidential election.April 1932 – Hitler won 36.7% of votes casts in the 2nd round of the presidential election. July 1932 – Nazis won 230 in the Reichstag. * Largest party in the Reichstag. Hindenburg offered Hitler vice-chancellorship and Hitler refused. Hitler calls for new elections. February 27th 1933 – Reichstag FireFebruary 28th 1933 – Presidential Decree “For the Protection of People and State” 300,000 arrested. 30,000 executed. Allowed imprisonment without trial for anyone deemed dangerous to the state. March 23 1933 – Enabling Act allows the Chancellor to pass legislations without the consent of the Reichstag.
