The Eagle Feather: The Eagle is the most sacred animal of all to Canada¡¯s First Nations.

The Eagle is considered to be the messenger of the Creator, therefore its feathers are held in very high regard

and represent the strongest, bravest and holiest. The Eagle feather is the link between the People and the

Creator and its feathers are gifted in sacred ceremony to individuals who have earned that honour.

We¡¯ve recently lost a member of our small community. Edward lived in

Boston Bar for almost his entire life. He is survived by his only child

Jerid A. Spigulis and three grandchildren. Ed was a man of faith and believed

in redemption. He was extremely sociable, and had a huge heart. Edward

spent most of his time at Fat Jack¡¯s and was always willing to help in any way

he could. He enjoyed having tea with his small circle of friends every day and

would shoot the breeze for many hours. He loved to talk, was a great storyteller and always had nuggets of wisdom for anyone who would listen.

A special thank you goes to Young and the Fat Jack¡¯s crew for everything you

did for him.

Rest in peace old friend.

PROPERTY CRIME WARNING

Please be aware that there have been recent thefts in our area. We have been doing extensive patrols to keep the

situation under control and prevent any further thefts. However, we are asking the community to be our eyes and

ears out there since we cannot be in two places at the same time. Please call us and report any suspicious vehicles

driving around your neighbourhood. Take a picture of the licence plate of the vehicle and the occupants inside the

vehicle if it¡¯s safe to do so. Be a good neighbour please and keep your eyes and ears open. Let¡¯s help each other!

A few little tips to help prevent thefts:

?

Change the light bulbs at your garage front/rear doors if they are burnt out.

?

Install motion sensor light.

?

Install alarm monitoring sign/camera sign or alarm monitoring window stickers. Home Depot and Canadian Tire

have them.

?

Install cameras on site. Talk to your home insurance company, you might qualify for 20% off your home

insurance premiums.

?

Ensure your doors and windows are always locked.

?

Lock your trailer door with heavy duty paddle locks.

?

Place something in front of your trailer to make it difficult for any thieves to steal it. Example: vehicle or wood.

?

Park your vehicles in your driveway close to the house and not on the street if possible.

?

Close the curtains if you have valuables so there is nothing visible that could attract thieves.

SOCIAL MEDIA

We would like to remind people that social media is a PUBLIC platform with users from all over the world and it is a

powerful tool when it is used the right way. ¡®Public¡¯ means WE can see it too. We have noticed some people getting

carried away on their keyboards, by saying things not necessarily factual and some people are bullying. Please

remember to be kind to one another. Behave respectfully just as you would like people to treat you. We teach

kindness and respect for others to our children so we should probably do the same. Don¡¯t you think¡?

We all have opinions and do not have to agree on everything. Let¡¯s be respectful. If you are disrespectful, you should

know that you could be banned from the social media group you belong to. You could also be prosecuted for uttering

threats. If you make online threats you could even be sued for Slander in Civil Court. At the end of the day, it is your

choice but you need to assume the responsibilities that go along with your decisions and actions.

All of us need to do our part to maintain our respectful, peaceful and welcoming community.

Thank you,

~Constable Evelyne JEAN

This month the PHE classes were focusing on sports that students can take pleasure in now and in the future. Most

classes have enjoyed a five-week session bowling at Canyon Lanes. We would like to thank Sherri Forman for her

support and guidance during each class. In addition, grades 4-6 and 7-12 have travelled to the Manning Park area in

order take part in 5 different snowshoeing field trips. A huge thank you to Hope Mountain Center, Fraser Cascade

Mountain School, Kelly Pearce, Natalie Worral and Denise Fitzsimmons for offering us this experience and supplying us with the equipment and guidance on these wonderful trips.

February is always one of our favourite months as the number one rule at BBESS is ¡°BE KIND¡±. On Pink Shirt Day, the

entire school focused on working together and treating each other with dignity, respect and kindness. We created a

garden where kindness can grow all year and where each student can ¡°lift each other up¡± during these difficult

pandemic times. This is just another reminder why our students are so fortunate to be living in a community and

attending a school that is always filled with caring and compassion.
