COURSE DESCRIPTION

1. The course "Organizational Consulting" is taught to students enrolled in “Environmental economics taught in English” degree programme for “bachelors” EQD, as of 2015/2016 academic year.

2. Description of content: The content covers methodical parts that teach the students of the nature and objectives of consulting, the nature of the consultation process and the development of theories and approaches of obtain.

Primary attention is paid to the specific role of consultant to consultant-client relationships and the diverse methodological tools for carrying out consultancy work.Essential part of the course is directed to topics of managing organizational change and techniques for overcoming resistance to change, followed by the results of the change.

Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of environmental consulting and prospects for its development.

For the seminars are prepared special case studies, tests, methodological and other tasks that ensure the active participation of students in the learning process and gaining new skills.

Teaching and learning methods

The teaching and learning methods comprise a combination of: lectures (two hours a week) for the core set of topics covering new knowledge on the subject, and Interactive training in seminars (two hours per week) using real case studies; review and critical analysis of policy actors’ positions; role-play in policy discussions.

All lectures are supported by Power Point presentations and reading materials. Case studies, practical tasks and instructions are prepared for the seminars.

The necessary technical resources for the purpose of instruction are: multimedia, software, access to Internet in class, Information and communications technology (ICT), and other digital devices as necessary for each class.

VALUATION

The course valuation consists of several components.

For full time students the final grade is formed as follows :

FG = 0.4 MTE + 0.3 GBSC + 0.3 IA,

where:

FG = Final Grade;

MTE = Mid-Term Exam;

GBSC = Grade Based on Semester Control;

IA = Individual Activity.

The final grade is based on a six-point scale, in which the lowest grade for successful completion of the course is 3. Converted to the ECTS the grading scale is as follows:

This course is designed in compliance with the requirements of the National Qualification Frame[1] in terms of acquired knowledge, skills and competences for the corresponding EQD.

The course provides the students with the knowledge of:

• in the field of organizational consulting;

• in nature and characteristics of methods and models used in organizational consulting ;

• the interpretation of the basic techniques in organizational consulting, linking them with concrete facts and theories;

The course will help students acquire skills, such as:

• support managers and professionals in the activities of the company;

• application of basic methods for organizational consulting;

• implementation of specific methods and logical reasoning related to student ability to organizational consulting of the company using environmental resources.

Knowledge and skills of the course will prepare students for specialists and managers in different organizational structures.
