Speaking and Listening

You Can Do Anything! Listen here to the video U Can Do Anything - by Earl Wilson. The message in this video encompasses a whole range of learner qualities we have at Melrose Park PS, including courage, perseverance, optimism and curiosity. After watching, think about your dreams and aspirations for now and for the future. Discuss this with a friend or family member. Ask them what they dream of or aspire to be in their future.

Critical Creative Thinking

Cloud Paintings!

Go outside with a buddy, lie down on the grass, and look up at the sky. Look at the different combinations of cloud shapes and patches of blue. Keep looking until you start to 'see' shapes that look like people, places or things. Ask your buddy if they can see the same things as you. As the clouds move along with the wind try to imagine new cloud paintings. Tips: Shade your eyes from the sun with your hand or hat. Be patient! It takes time to make a good cloud painting. If there are no clouds, or it's raining, go to the Cloud Appreciation Society site - and search cloud-tags and cloudalikes and look at photos of clouds. Describe what you see to your friend!

Learner Quality - Reflective

Reflect on your learning journey for this term. Take a few moments to write some notes about the ups and downs of your learning experience over the past 10 weeks, whether you have been learning from home or at school. Think about the new things you have learned, acknowledge what you are good at, and the ways to improve. What would you like to achieve in your learning for Term 4? Have a discussion with a partner about your journey and share your thoughts.

Create your own backwards quiz based on the science or geography topics you have studied this Term. "If ___________ is the answer, what was the question?" Make up a question that results in that answer only. Example: "Heart is the answer. What was the question?" Q - Name the organ in the human body that pumps the blood? Do this for five answers and test a buddy to see if they can work out your questions!
