[Pages:2]What a Day That Will Be

There is coming a day, When no heartaches shall come,

No more clouds in the sky, No more tears to dim the eye,

All is peace forevermore, On that happy golden shore, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

There'll be no sorrow there, No more burdens to bear, No more sickness, no pain, No more parting over there;

And forever I will be, With the One who died for me, What a day, glorious day that will be.

What a day that will be, When my Jesus I shall see, And I look upon His face, The One who saved me by His grace; When He takes me by the hand, And leads me through the Promised Land, What a day, glorious day that will be.

Doris Marcella Myhre Broberg was born July 24, 1926, in Arctander Township, Kandiyohi County, Minnesota the daughter of Elmer and Anphia (Christopherson) Myhre. She grew up in rural Sunburg, Minnesota and attended District 54 country school and Kerkhoven High School. She worked as a nurse's aide for Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. On September 20, 1946, Doris was united in marriage to LeRoy Broberg at Salem Covenant Church, rural Pennock. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed on the Magnuson Homestead in rural Pennock, until retiring and moving into Kerkhoven in 1984. They were blessed with five children.

Doris was raised in the Church of God in Willmar and was currently a member of Salem Covenant Church. She was active in Covenant Women and Ladies Aid, as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, vacation Bible school teacher, Deaconess, Cradle Roll, prayer chain member and played mandolin in the String Band. She was a 4-H leader, a member of KIP Study Club, Homemakers Club, Salem Seniors, and the Kerkhoven Seniors group.

She was a homemaker and later was employed at KMS Schools as a cook's assistant for 27 years. She retired at age 85. She loved her work with the other cooks and she especially enjoyed the kids.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, and entertaining family and friends, painting or staining the wooden crafts that she and LeRoy made and going to many craft shows. Doris also enjoyed watching the Twins and Timberwolves. She made a quilt and a set of dish towels for each of the grandchildren as well as an apron and Christmas table runner for each of the girls. She loved her family, traveling many times to Canada to visit. The Christmas season was always enjoyed with her cooking the dinner (including her famous lefse from real potatoes, the traditional plum pudding and spritz cookies), reading the Christmas story, praying and singing carols. In earlier years, the family enjoyed camping at Sibley State Park. She enjoyed reading, especially the Bible, devotionals and inspirational magazines. Her generosity and positive, caring personality was a blessing to everyone. She had a strong faith and trust in God and leaves a wonderful spiritual legacy.

Doris passed away on October 21, 2019, at the age of 93. She is survived by her children: Kathleen (and John) Genser of Ham Lake; Wendy (and Dennis) Martin of Hastings; Mark (and Patricia) Broberg of Prinsburg; Dawn (and Greg) Ericson of Killarney, Manitoba; and Timothy Broberg of Kerkhoven; 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeRoy; sisters, Gloria Halverson and Lorraine Broberg; brother, Arling Myhre; and stillborn grandson, Nathan Genser.
