LanguaLTM has a foundation that goes far back in time, and we find it important to mention the people, who brought LanguaLTM forward to us. Especially thanks to Bradley Rosenthal and Thomas Hendricks, both now retired from the FDA, for their enthusiasm and energy in promoting the LanguaLTM ideas in the past..We would especially like to express our gratitude to Ivan Varsanyi and his colleague Judit Monspart-Senyi, Hungary, who during the bilateral French-Hungarian BALATON and the European COST Action 99 projects persistently invoked updates and changes to the LanguaLTM Thesaurus to make the thesaurus up-to-date.

The most important event since the introduction of the LanguaLTM 2000 Thesaurus in 2000 is the introduction of the LanguaLTM Food Product Indexer, which greatly facilitates the indexing of foods in food data bases. The Food product Indexer was originally developed by Erik N?rby, Polytec, and Anders M?ller, Danish Food Information, with a lot of help and constructive criticism from Jayne Ireland, Danish Food Information, and Tue Christensen, National Food Institute, Danish Technical University. It has taken much thought and many hours to develop the software to the present stage as a user-friendly LanguaLTM indexing tool.

For the most recent versions of the LanguaLTM Thesaurus we also owe special thanks to Johanna Dwyer and Leila Saldanha of the US Office of Dietary Supplements and to Heli Reinivuo, Elly Buurma, Isabelle Berta-Vanrullen and Benoit Labarbe of the national EuroFIR food composition database teams for their expertise in the inclusion of Dietary Supplements in the thesaurus.

We would also like to extend our thanks to David Haytowitz of the USDA Agricultural Research Service, to Antoni Colom Umbert, Antoni Colom Fern?ndez, Pere Palou Vidal, Manuel Mo?ino G?mez, Marta Autonell Caldentey and Ignacio Ricci Cabello of the Ministry of Health and Consumers of the Balearic Islands and to the members of the EuroFIR food composition database teams. The compilers in the USDA and the EuroFIR network indexed the foods in their food composition databases, using the LanguaLTM Food Product Indexer.
