May 13, 2020Psalm 118:19-24 (NIV)Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation. The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone; the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.You and I were created for joy and if we miss it, we miss the reason for our existence. Jesus Christ lived and died on earth to restore us to the joy we had lost. When we think about joy, we are at the edge of life’s deepest secret. We are not talking about emotional frills but we are talking about the discovery of all rightness in the essence of life. The psalmist invites us to do what we were created to do: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Jesus came and spoke to us of many things. When He was about to leave He said, “I have told you this, so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.” (John 15:11)It has been two months since we have seen each other however God has kept us together and for that we are thankful. We thank God for the gift of technology and for making it possible for us to hear each other’s voice. Please continue to stay in and stay safe.Thank you for your faithfulness and your generosity. Mt. Zion, you are awesome! Did you know that when we give, we are declaring to ourselves that: God is our provider; we trust Him to do what is best for us andWe know that all we have belongs to Him anyway.
