ACTIVITY GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS (Sheet 3.1)

Final Group Products will be:

• A storyboard of how the videotape is going to be shot and the parts of their videos. (This will be the groups’ map!)

• A PowerPoint that will be used as main interface for the presentation (This will have the images used). This is what the group will actually use for their forecasting video background to guide them just like in the TV (If a live animation is used then permission needs to be asked to the instructor to see if this option will be feasible for that particular group.)

• A script of what the different presenter’s are going to be saying during the recording, how they will be dressed and what items will they use.

• A 3-5 minute video clip of Weather forecast & some clips (3-5min max) of the rehearsal moments (Backstage shots.)

• A stapled document with: Group information sheet (participants, name of group, etc), Storyboard, scripts and any other extra documentation the group may have used to accomplish the project.

STORY BOARD: (See teacher example)

• The steps of the video: the order of appearance of the presenters, the portion that they will be talking about, their roles, their costumes and any special effect.

• Slides or images (maps, extended forecast) from the Web that will be included in the PowerPoint.

• Weather factors that will be discussed in each portion of the video and their relation to the images.

o Temperature, cloud cover, precipitation, wind speed, etc

• (OPT) Any additional news they will talk about briefly. (Traffic, breaking news, school news, etc) this should be a very small portion of the project. (

POWERPOINT

Must have:

• Name of: the NEWS channel and participants. It should also include the channels symbol.

• Doppler radar images regarding: Temperature, Precipitation, Clouds, Dew points, wind speed.

• Extended Forecasts when applicable

• Other slides for breaking news or special news channel features

• A graph (from Excel or Website)

Example: Possible recommendations to the audience about: (Pwpt, images, etc)

o What kind of Cloth you will need to use

o Recreation (sport, theme parks), tourism (weekend plans, long vacation plans), health concerns.

o Traveling, Morning Commute, Biking, Air traveling

SCRIPT

Must have:

• It should have in writing what each presenter will be saying during each slide or event for the news channel for the recording.

• The costumes people will be using (if appropriate and agreed by the group)

• The time it should take for the presenter to do their job.

TO REMEMBER: IMPORTANT

1) The main focus of the video is on Weather and anything related to it.

2) The video should not be longer than 6 minutes
