?4541521-59436000 Home learning for Year: SixWeek Beginning: Monday 23rd March SpellingWe have been looking at prefixes in spelling. ‘in-’ and ‘im-’. are some example word lists to help you remember some of the words that we looked at. Why not create some squiggle art or pyramid words with the words from the list? Reading:Look at this link to hear and follow another point of view from the story of Goldilocks: you compare this version to the original version of Goldilocks? Think about these questions:What is the same? What is different? Why? Can you use evidence from the story to support your answer? Here is the version of the original tale that we used in class: to continue to read at home. You can read alone, to parents or to anyone in your house!English:As we have been looking at Goldilocks in class, think about the question: “Should Goldilocks be punished for her crimes?”You could create a table of reasons why she should be punished for her crimes and reasons why she shouldn’t be punished for her crimesReasons she shouldReasons she shouldn’tExampleShe went into someone’s house without permissionExampleShe was invited into the house by Mama BearWhy not turn this into a written debate and post one of your paragraphs on the blog for us all to see ?Example of a for paragraphOne of the reasons why Goldilocks should be punished is because she trespassed into someone else’s house without permission. Obviously, this is an unacceptable act and she should be punished like other criminals. Maths:We have been looking at measurements and units of measurements in Maths at the moment. Can you use any jugs, cups, mugs to experiment with capacity? Can you use any scales that you may have to experiment with weight? Can you use any tape measures or rulers that you have to experiment with length/height? Why not get someone at home to measure your height? Why not help someone at home with the cooking and baking? Why not make someone at home a cup of tea (be sensible and careful) and measure how much milk they need to make the perfect cup of tea? To support this learning, look at measurements in your revision guide and have a go at some of the questions and worked examples. (Page 66 and 67 in the new guide)Again, if you do any of this work upload some pictures/or comment on the blog to tell us!PE/Active lesson Why not show everyone at home what we have been doing in our fitness unit? Set up a circuit in your garden or a room in your house for everyone to have a go at!Some of the exercises that we have been looking at are: Squats (remember to pretend that you are sitting on the toilet!)LungesPlanking Star jumpsBurpees Jogging on the spotRemember we have been looking at testing our heart rate before and after exercise. Could you do this?Challenge: Who can do the most squats in a minute? Can everyone in your family do burpees for a minute? Science We have been looking at materials in Science.
